Wow, guess I should have read the reviews before signing up.  So my story is basically the same.  I went in, the woman in the office asked a million questions to make sure I'm "the right type of person" for this club, and that "over 50% of people are turned away for not being a good fit".  Sales crap.  So anyways, after going on and on about how great the club is and how it's perfect for me, and yada yada, the prices come out.  a year for $2500 PLUS $30 a month, or 2 years for $3500 & $30 a month.  Then suddenly there's a special, that's only available today (like most other testimonies on here). $500 off your signup for a year or $1000 off your signup for 2 years.  I said for a year, there's still no way I'm paying 2000 up front.  "Oh well we can do payments".  I"m still not paying $200 a month for this. "How about we add 6 months free" (also like all the testimonials).  So in the end I'm paying 140 a month for 18 months.  OK, I can deal.  So I put 200 down, (after she insisted I put down 500 repeatedly), and we were done.

Next day, I get fired from my job.  I go straight into the office and ask for a refund stating I can't afford this anymore.  I was told there are no refunds.  I said I can't do this.  They told me I signed the contract, but don't worry, I'll meet someone. It'll be worth it.  BTW, come to the member meeting tonight, didn't you get my message?.

At this point I should point out that when you sign up, it takes 3 days to get into the system and be able to log on and sign up for events.  So 24 hours later I was NOT eligible to go to events yet, but was invited anyway.  Now that I see other testimonials, I realize that the cancellation policy is 3 days, and having not gone to any events (or so it seems, she breezed through that part of the contract so stupid me wouldn't read it and I didn't).  Anyways, I was within my 3 days, told no to the refund, and tricked into showing up to a member house party that night, to void my cancellation policy.  She also told me that I could have my payments postponed a month to help in case I didn't find work right away.  So my first payments wouldn't come out until 2 months later.  Well 2 WEEKS later I'm getting calls from the debiting company asking to verify my info for a withdrawal in 5 days.  I said no.  They called back the next day.  I said no.  I called E&A HQ in Washington, they said they had to verity that I was authorized postponement.  They never got back to me.  I called back the next day, and they said it was verified and I wouldn't pay.  Then the local office calls me with paperwork to sign to amend my contract stating the first payment is in June.  I signed it and sent it back.  Guess what my bank messaged me with the next day?  A withdrawal.  After all that, they still took their money.

They did end up voiding the transaction and never took the money.  But after all this I'm done.  The events aren't that great.  Restaurant and bar choices are greatly lacking.  Some of the events are fun, but most of the people that go are the same 30 or 40 people over and over.  The majority of the group is 30 or 40 something men (being a 28 year old male myself, that leaves a lot to be desired).  I have met a couple of good guys that I'd be down to hang out with.  But after all these issues, their shady business practices, and hearing from the event hosts how the "management" doesn't listen to recommendations and does what they want, I'm going in to demand a refund this week, and if they refuse, I'm calling a lawyer.  Unless you're wealthy enough to afford an extra 140 a month, middle aged and REALLY bored and need someplace to go, stay away.
