September 15, 2004

I received a telephone call from a young lady who offered me a credit card of my choice. I already had several credit cards that were maxed out, but i just wanted one more. Problem number one = me. I wanted to have more credit cards...but that puts me into debt even more. Bad idea on my part.

When I picked up the phone I heard that young lady laughing, she was talking to a guy in the background. I was very offended and thought that it was unusual for a spokewoman to laugh on the phone. But I thought back when I used to work in an office and laughed before - perhaps from a joke from a co-worker. So I didnt think anything of it. Looking back, that girl was laughing because she is a fraudster! I would have to admit that she is the worst fraudster I have ever encounterd!

Part of the scam process:

1. She offered me the names "visa" and "mastercard". So I thought it was a real company. She said it would improve my credit, but my credit was already good.

2. She offered me credit line of $2,600. I thought this was amazing! But all I had too do was pay $299 up front (NEVER DO THIS). I later told my dad about this (he is very good with money) and he said "how stupid could you be?" Looking back I was definately stupid. But when new things come around in a persons life such as new friends, new fresh romance, new offers, and new money...you dont really think at first. You just go with the flow.....

I was in such a hurry to get my money....that I sort of brainwashed myself in the process.

3. I did not want to do this credit card thing, cause I was not certain about it. But when she said she would transfer me to another gentleman in the "processing and verification department" i felt it was legit.

4. So I did the recording. But its only purpose is to make "them" look real.

5. Checking account number: they wanted my checking account number....I just thought that if I receive my credit card of $2,600 within 7-10 days at most, I could use that card which was promised with a cash advance of $500. >>> I would then Withdraw the 500 dollars and put 300 into my checking just in time the night before the withdraw was to happen.

But luckily I got frustrated when the card never came. I looked up the name on the internet, came to this valuable website, found out it was a scam!!!!! 100% prime scam

Here is my advice for all of you who read this:

1. First get professional advice (free of course) from the government, federal trade commision, your state justice system, ect. They can provide you with information, common facts about scammers, and much more.

2. (my advice) Never, ever give out your checking account number. For example, if you see a late night infomercial about cooking products for instance, you will see in their program that you can provide them with your checking account number.

The product looks so easy and fun to have. The people look very friendly. But I have already heard several people say that they ordered a food product that they pay with their checking account number from their check and in just 3 payments its finished. But that is not always the case. Some people will continue to take out more monthly payments. The funny thing about those "3 easy payments" is that they can scam you 100 % by taking out 3 payments within 1 hour!!!!!!!!

3. Never give out your checking account number on internet, phone, cell phone, or in person.

4. If there is a website of a company it has got to have a telephone number! Think about it: if this company has the money to pay for internet, pay for its production and labor, it can afford to have a phone number listed on the web. Example: I visited a government grant site last night (March 10 2005) that offered a fax number and email. They used the ending .gov
to make it look like the government, when in fact it was not the government!!!

5. Similar companies will also use (instead of a telephone number) a link for "common questions people ask about this product". Well they do this in hopes of preventing you from calling them to ask about a product that you never received.

6. If there is a website with just a fax number and email address------- THINK ABOUT IT!!! think about this....they are both unreliable, and I repeat unreliable means of communication (I am a communications major by the way). If you try to contact them by fax, they can say that they never received it and if you emailed them, they will say the same thing. Its their way of AVOIDING you. And why would a company try to AVOID a person who just has a simple question about a product they purchased recently with them. I know why = because they are scammers and fraudsters.

7. SHIPPING TAKES FOREVER, LIKE 3-4 WEEKS = POSSIBLE SCAM

Alot of Scammers dont seem to scam the person right away...here is the process:

-buyer is told that shipping can take 10-30 days. So the buyer will:

-wait 2 weeks

-get curious and frustrated

-call them and the company may say "its on its way"

-buyer feels frustrated but feels the issue is resolved

-feels he will receive the product a few days before the end of
the month for example

-30 days comes by and no product

-THE COMPANY (located in the basement of a friends house = unstable and unreliable location) will move out of state, change their company name, change their phone number. BUT THEY HAVE JUST SCAMMED 300 PEOPLE VIA THEIR SPECIAL "OLD TIME" TELEPHONES. 300 people x $150 = $45,000.

-the government, police, and authorities cannot catch them because they are always on the run. if they stay some place it will be for 2 weeks or 1 month, or 3 months or so and off they go.

Heres a joke: What do Mount Everest of Oregon and this fake Everest company have in common: At first they seem calm and nice, but when something terrible happens they blow up (yell) in your face.

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!

I've said this before, so for those who have read it can ignore it.

If a guy comes up to your front door in rags and says "Give me your bank account number and I'll send you a credit card in 2 weeks." Would you give him the information? Probably not. Then why would you give your bank account number to a voice on the phone?
