When I heard President Obama's speech on financial hardships I sent my financial information to several web sites. I was contacted by Fintech Services regarding a loan modification on my current mortgage. I am a single mother of 3 kids & my ex-husband's business went under which took away my child support. I was seeking to refinance at a lower interest rate to free up extra funds. I spoke with a fellow by the name of Cleair Cheatham who told me that I had been approved for a loan modification. I signed the contract and had to pay $500.00 on 4/24/09 up front. I then paid a second fee of $400.00 on 5/8/09. Mr. Cheatham also recommended I get behind on my mortgage to help prove my financial hardship.
I also was informed that I was able to a debt resolution on 3 credit cards that I was struggling to pay. I was then transferred to A. Cappello. Mr. Cappello drew up a contract that stated that there would be a trust account set up with Rocky Mountain Bank. Instead to paying the creditors on 6/8/09, I paid $405.00 that was my first installment in my trust account. Once the trust account built they would contact the creditors and negotiate a lower payoff.
I am now two months behind on my mortgage & credit card accounts. I plan to seek legal action & I still have to deal with the back pay owed on my mortgate & credit accounts.

Also scammed by Fintech-update to Mrs. Cheatham

AUTHOR: Stephanie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 27, 2010

I also was scammed by Fintech Services Mrs. Cheatam. I wrote my story months ago. I have not heard from Fintech in over 1 year and am also out $1,000.00. I will not explain again what happened to me, but if you took over for those who scammed myself and others, you need not explain. You took over a company who took advantage of consumers during a dire need for help with their finances.

I have received several calls in the past, due to leaving messages with them, as they told me their 'lines were down' and could not take incoming calls. I have also had emails to me from Andrew Cappola, the owner, saying he was not the owner, but only one of the litigators. How he could even use that term to describe himself is beyond me.

I also did my homework and spoke with my band who assured me they do not speak with 3rd parties in modifying loans. They also assured me that they never spoke to anyone at Fintech Services on my behalf. And just to be clear, Fintech services also told me to 'rest easy and get some sleep for a change, and make sure you don't pay your mortgage until further notice from us. It is much easier to get a modification when you are proving to 'them' that you can not afford it'.

By writing to rip-off report, it is only my first step in trying to retrieve my lost funds. You and your company should be ashamed of yourself for taking money under false pretences.

Fintech Report

AUTHOR: Cleair Cheatham - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, March 13, 2010

My name is Cleair Cheatham. I recall having spoken with Dana Starke. I was informed by numerous lenders that they were unable to help a client until that client was at least one month behind on his or her mortgage. If Ripoff will take a survey of the various large lenders and some of their clients, they will find that statement to be true.

I have always told clients that they are contractually obligated to pay their mortgage and that if they missed a payment that the lender would recognize that the client was having a hardship and be more inclined to modify the loan. I never advised anyone to fall behind to the extent that they might go into foreclosure. I turned Dana's account over to our negotiating department to get it modified. Fintech ran into problems later. However I might add that while I worked there, they successfully modified many loans.

I read Dana's report subsequent to my leaving Fintech and called her and offered to modify her loan at no charge. I gave her my telephone number. I called her on more than one occasion. She said that she would consider my offer but she never called me back.

She has my number and my offer is still good. I have never tried to hurt anyone. I recognize that these homeowners are in trouble not out of intent but rather due to a challenging economy. I trusted Fintech to do right by every one because I had met the owners, who were both mortgage brokers, and they seemed to be decent men. I don't beleve they meant anyone bad. They were just overwhelmed and were not able to keep up with the demands of that business. I am sincerely sorry for any hardship that Ms Starke has experienced and sincerely wish her the very best. Cleair Cheatham, Florida U.S.A.

Hopfully This Will Help

AUTHOR: Dum-Founded - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, October 24, 2009

Dana, I hope you check this site again and read this. I to paid the fee for this company to help a freind of mine with her mortgage. After several months of B/S from them I contacted the mortgage Co. myself only to find NO-ONE from fintech had EVER contacted them. I proceeded to deal with the bank and did ON MY OWN get her mortgage changed from 8.9 to 5.12 interest which dropped her payment over $400.00 a month. You can also do it yourself. Yes it is somewhat time consuming but well worth it. I'm still out the $1,000.00 I paid this bogus company and do plan on doing whatever I can to get that money back. Good Luck, Stephen----Dumd-founded Middle River, MD.
