I contacted First data and asked to open one processing terminal to service two websites, I explained that I had never done this before and could they walk me through this step by step.

I was sent two contracts and told not to worry they would take care of making it into one terminal to service the two sites and I needed to sign them.   We moved onto setting up the processer and from that moment on,  I couldnt get anyone to respond to my requests for assistance, I never even got confirmation I was approved.   I sent repeated emails asking if I even had an account and what was the next step.

They phoned did me at one point but when I asked about the second website and why the person was only talking about one of the two sites...  I was told that there were two accounts and she couldnt help me.  I said I wanted to talk to one person who would make sure I only had one account, and help me with both set ups.. no one got back to me.

In the meantime my bank said they could set me up.. and I happily went that route... In retrospect im so very, very happy I did, they have taken excellent care of us..

After a month, I see that firstdata has taken $600 usd of charges from my account for 2 processers that were never used... When I call they tell me I must pay $1,000 to cancel the two accounts ... which they never set up correctly nor responded to my requests for assistance.. and which I NEVER wanted (the second one)....

I called repeatedly and spent days on the phone, no one can find my account, no one can help, promises for call backs and refund processing were not done ... finally a rep from my bank helped me get to someone who helped us move forward.

First Data tried HARD to keep the 600 in fees for 0 processing as well as $1,000 for cancellation of an account that in my opinion we never properly opened other than them getting the contract signed, once that was done.. I was completly ignored.  In the end they will be charging me $500 for an account never used or consumated...

They claim I have to pay the cancellation because I signed the contract and I have countered but they breached that contract by not providing the service...   This has been a true nightmare.  And from what I see in the volume of similar complaints its a trend with this company.  I regret not reading these before I started this process.

Please.. if anyone can tell me who regulates this or where I can go to file a claim or register this complaint formally please let me know.  Any regulatory body that oversees this area, should be informed of the questionabl e practices this company employs especially since they have direct access to a customers bank accounts.
