My daughter taught me how to pay my bills on line. In December 2016,I added AAA Mastercard to my payees. I paid my bill all Spring without any problems. I paid my May bill on May 17 (I have Social Security only and get paid usually on the 14 of the montrh.) All seemed normal. A week later I called AAA Mastercard to check the date when I charged something and they said that they had not received my May payment. I checked my on-line banking site and AAA Mastercard was gone, completely deleted along with the payment history. I went to my local branch at 8311 S. 167th Ave in Omaha and talked to the banker there, Alan Pacholski. He said, "Oh, we changed your payee to "US Bank" because it is easier to pay that payment from there".

He said "It was changed in February" I pointed out that I had just paid my bill on May 17 to AAA Mastercard with , I thought, no problem.  I made him copy every page that I had left. The payment summary disclosed that there were 2 account numbers added by the bank to US Bank for my 1 credit card. The numbers were almost identical. The first 4 sets of 4 numbers were the same  The last set was changed by only 2 numbers. According to the summary, my May payment went to the bogus number.  I closed my account and wrote a letter detailing all of this to the main branch of the bank. As far as I am aware, no one has done anything about this and I am out a $98 payment. (I'm sure they thought an old lady would not notice and they could take every other payment for awhile.)

If you haven't received your money back, then this is a good time to file a complaint with the CFPB (Consumer Finance Protection Bureau). Since you have your documentation, you can upload it along with the complaint. You can find the form to file on the CFPB website. The CFPB has the power and authority to make sure the bank does the right thing. File ASAP so you get your money back right away.
