I have opend my first premier credit card in March of this year...with like everyone elses reports i have read got a 250$ credit limit but only ended up being able to spend 76$ of it..all the rest was in charges supplied by them

I as of today have now a current ballance of 418.87 First premier called me yesterday and was willing to either settle my "debt" for 85.00 of pay them 300.00 and then they advised me that they would but 250.00 back on my card..i was so fed up with them that i payed the 85.00 and settled for less then my ballance..doing a check by phone with 11 dollars in extra fees

now those words "settled for less then balance" will appear on my credit report even thou i only paid what i spent...please help me in knowing what to do to get this off my report..

How wrong you are about credit reports!

AUTHOR: Matthew - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 20, 2004

Juliet,

How wrong you are about credit reports!

Over the last few years, I have had 26,19, and 21 negative items removed from my credit reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, respectively. I've even had a bankruptcy removed from my TransUnion report.

This is one of the myths the credit unions (private institutions) want everyone to believe.

I use the services of Lexington Law Firm, and my credit reports are significantly better.

For the record, I have no affiliation with Lexington Law Firm, other than being a satisfied customer. I have noting to gain either personally or professionally by posting this.

Please stop perpetuating the myth that you have no control over your own credit reports.

Credit is the absolute last thing you should be worried about!

AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

Look at the facts. Nobody will give you a real credit card.

So, you agreed to $175 in fees for a card with a $250 limit.

Then, you managed to run that up to $420, which means you never paid anything.

Stay away from credit. All it will do is cause you more problems.

Use cash. Trust me, life will be much easier that way!

Don't worry about what they put in your credit report.

You won't ever be using it again anyway.

Accurate Information Cannot Be Removed From Your Credit Report

AUTHOR: Juliet - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 19, 2004

You can't have accurate information removed from your credit report. Just because it's negative, doesn't make it inaccurate. The merchant will be properly reporting that you settled your debt with them for less than the amount you owed. That's truth, it can't be changed.
