First Premier Bank provides protected (pay way too much to use) credit cards to individuals looking to improve/establish their own credit. I had problems with my credit in the past (when I was 19) and now that the "bad" reports have fallen off, I am looking to establish a "good" history.

In January 2006, I opened an Account with First Premier (300.00 limit - 248.00 of which goes to 'fees' to open/use this account - and an additional 6.00 is added monthly). I made all payments on time and have had no problems with this account though October 2006. In October, I made two payments. One was for the October statement (I believe this was due 10-19 - the payment was received 10-22). On 10-25 I mailed another payment and eventhough I had not received my November statement, I wrote clearly in the NOTE section of the check that it was for my November statement/payment. The payment was posted on 10/31. Since the company posted the payment on 10/31 they crediited the payment to October and called on 12/8 to request payment for my November statement. When I explained I already paid it, they said since it was posted 10/31 it did not count as a November payment and that the November payment was still owed. After speaking with the call center manager and several other employees it was determined they would not move the payment to the November statement and I would need to make another payment. Needless to say I asked for my account to be closed immediatly (In January the company would have received another $72.00 annual fee and I was not willing to pay this to a company with such policies).

Since then, I have received 3 harrassing calls (the last was today 12/27) requesting payment in full. I have not received my final statement that was requested 12/8 (one was sent 12/6 but I disregarded it because I was expecting my final statement). I was told today that they would not send a final statement so close to the statement day (12/8 vs 12/6). Needless to say, I am being harassed by this company that is not providing something that I am allowed by law to receive.

This company not only has bad policies, but I am sure that I may be protected by law since my check stated the payment was for the November balance and it was cashed but not posted to the November statement. EMPLOYEES AT THIS FACILITY ARE EXTREMLY RUDE AND DO NOT 'THINK FOR THEMSELVES'. Much of the conversations I've had with the employees are common sense - I made a payment for November, post the payment received IN November!!! Now they have lost a customer that they received ALOT of money from over a simple fix.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Payments

AUTHOR: Al - (U.S.A.)

Well anyone knows that if you put a note on a payment and send it in to a company that when the company receives payment it will be posted to the credit card immediately they won't hold it and place it to your november date you have to send in a payment after your statement prints with the new due date. Employees aren't aloud to make decisions based on they're thoughts because they have to follow a companies policy and what they even have the ability to do.

So i suggest that next time you want a payment to post on any credit card that you mail it in AFTER the statement prints with the new due date!
