This company who supposedly works for Capital One and collects debt for them is a nightmare! They called us numerous times and threatened our extended family. They called us after we told them to stop. They called my brother-in-law at home and at work and threatened a lein on their home even though they had nothing to do with our debt and had no right to any information about it. They also called my nephew and his new bride and did the same to them. That right there is a breach of our privacy and to their's as well.

They found my nephew's unlisted home phone number, which we do not even have, and harrassed him with threats of taking his home.

When we confronted them with this they denied it, but then I caught the person on the phone in a lie (Ms. D'angelo). She slipped and said that she only had the cell number of my nephew.

In our next conversation, in which we argued again about them calling my brother-in-law at his work and threatening him, she claimed to have no phone numbers except ours. Yet the day before she said that she had my nephew's phone number. FTC regulations state that they cannot legally do this.

We do have a glimmer of hope. My brother-in-law's company that he works for records every phone call and who it comes from. After we told the collector that information, she became very nice and wanted to help I told her to stop calling us and that we did not owe any debt with them.

So far we have not been contacted again, but it has only been 6 days. They are not the type of people who will take no for an answer. I wish I knew how any human being can do this to another human being for money. I would live in a cardboard box before I could do these things to someone. These people should burn in hell for what they do to people on a daily basis. They obviously have no conscience. I could not sleep at night knowing how much stress and anguish I put on someone just to make a living. These people need to get a real job.

Rebuttal for Employees that defend the company

AUTHOR: youfilthydirtyliar - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, May 13, 2011

Dear employees (that defend this firm):

First, nice of you to share that you qualify for target gift cards for your work at the expense of another's misfortune.

I was the subject of your current/former company yesterday.  This is not my debt - they did not care and had no intention of gathering information.  They wanted me to make a payment no matter what I said.  It was so bizarre.  I guess I do not need to tell you how that call went.  They were not only innapropriate on many levels but ineffective.  I have now found them to be a very interesting read on the internet and I will be sure to blow them off.  I am letting the credit reporting agencies handle the fraud and this is the only company I will deal with.  I will no longer even write this creditor that doesn't belong to me and I will never answer a call from this firm.  End of story.

However, I intend to make it my personal mission to watch this firm - log the times of their calls etc. etc. etc.  I will complain to the FTC at any opportunity.  THey have violated three parts of the act so far in two days.

To the person who informed the audiance to to just pay our bills.  I'm assuming you don't get what has happened to the US economy - I'm assuming that only because your statement is stupid and it was the same statement that the rep screamed at me.  Is this part of your training program.  He also told me I clearly can't manage my finances.  Nice ..... this coming from a collection agent representating a firm (american express) that took a bail out from our US government.  I am lucky not to be one of the people that can't pay their debts but I know many that are.  Very good people.  Don't judge what you do not know.  And a collection rep does not make for an expert about paying bills and "doing the right thing".

Why don't you get a real job, one that is based on innovation, creativity, and actual production in for the US economy.  Collecting debts that you did not personally finance doesn't take alot of skills - is there a college of collections I'm unaware of?  I have an MBA in Finance - what do you have?  I own two business firms and I don't owe American Express this debt.  I don't care if you are contacting someone that really owes it you have no right to speak to people this way, withold payments they did not authorize, house your parent company in an other country to defraud the american people, and you actually just don't have the right to breathe the same air as we do.

Have a great career - I hope your bonus' dries up and Target kicks  you out of their store!

They won't stop calling me!!!!

AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 16, 2009

I changed cell phone carriers about two months ago and apparently was assigned the old cell number of someone who did not pay her bills, because BOY have the debt collectors been calling me.

So, this company, First Source Advantage, calls me all the time. Two, three times a day.

I have now spoken to a representative not once, not twice, not three times, but FOUR TIMES, to tell them that
a) I am not the person they are trying to reach, and
b) I DON'T KNOW HER.

I just got into it with a representative on the phone a few short minutes ago, and of course I didn't ask for her name. She hung up on me after I told her to stop calling. She said, "This phone number has been pre-loaded, so it may take 72 hours for the calls to stop." I told her that was not acceptable. I have been told this same thing FOUR TIMES now, and every time the calls stop... for a few days. Then they start again.

I don't even owe anyone any money, so it really ticks me off that I'm being harrassed by debt collectors trying to collect a debt for a person I DO NOT KNOW.

This IS NOT LEGAL. I really, really hate this company and wish they would stop calling me. I do not want to change my phone number yet again (just got a new one two months ago), but it is looking like I will either have to change it, or file a lawsuit.

I would have to say that ASG was a great place to work, and yes things did change when it became Firstsource Advantage. I know longer work there because I moved out of town.

They didn't cut raises, if you didn't get a raise it's because you didn't deserve one, not that they cut all raises. And they do NOT allow FDCPA violations, and you do get more then a slap on the wrist. Its really funny that the person that has all this bad stuff to say about the company and all the rules that were broke, were the one that he was breaking, and thought it was funny. He would tell people on a daily bases they were gonna a have a lawsuit on there hands if they didn't pay, or some kind of legal action.

As for the gift cards for Target, there were NEVER thousands of dollars missing, every card is counted for. I didn't work on target but I do know that the Gift cards were given on a monthly bases when the client sent them.

As for Firstsource having the power to place a judgment / lien / wage garnishment etc.... No they do not but they do have pre-legal account in the office which the client request they let the customers know that is what can and will happen if this not paid. As for the credit report only 1st parties report to the credit reporting agents, not 3rd parties.

Really drugs, how can you even say that when there are over 500 people that work there and you might know a hand full of them, why don't you say the people that you know that work there are on drug, including your self that is more a the correct statement that should have been made.

And you no longer work there because you were walked out, and the new company that you work and gave you 5 days off with out pay for FDCPA violations.

1st off I would just like to say that ASG or as it's better known now First Source Advantage used to be a great and friendly company to work for..The company had many certifications and awards for being a very good customer service orientated company, it was a model for the new style of collections, not the kind you always hear about on the news..It was owned by two brothers and was more of a family environment hence why I started working there.

A couple years back they were bought out by a company in India called ICIC One Source..and that was the beginning of the end..Pretty much all of the awesome managers that kept that ship running so tight and so consumer friendly left..Since then the company has fallen apart. The employees were treated like crap..Hence why all of the good ones left...they cut all raises..people started caring less..They allow multiple FDCPA violations and all the collector gets is a slap on the wrist...I've heard people threaten lawsuits..which is illegal...use scare tactics such as noted above..liens..judgements..wage garnishment...false attorney fees and lying about balances owed for instance taking lets say a 5000.00 account..telling the debtor that its 8000.00 and then offering a fake settlement so it looks like they saved tons of money...there have been problems with collectors setting up fake checks, meaning using their own checking accounts to set up checks to make it look like the account was taken care of so that they can get a bigger bonus.

( the company did nothing)removing address's on the account so the person does not receive a letter stating they bounced a check..or let me give you another example...There are clients that incent collectors by giving gift cards out for good work(Target, yes the store)...etc...one instance just a few months ago...where thousands of dollars in gift cards were missing...what happened was us collectors were supposed to be paid the gift cards ...so the manager ( a Mr Scott calahan) did not want the client to find out that the gift cards that were supposed to be being paid to that clients collectors were being used for personal use for managers, sups etc and to give to other collectors on other clients for achievements. meanwhile lying to us collectors and telling us that we had to wait on the client(Target). So did they tell the client what they had done..of course not..

Better yet just lie some more...wait a few months and pray the client never knot ices and meanwhile the collectors who rely on that for groceries their kids etc..would just have to wait..Let me give you another example...Scott, the manager of one of the buildings thought it would be an excellent idea to bring with him one of his team leaders to become a manager.(Michael Landis)..now mind you this guy had no collection experience..used to repeatedly run checks that he never even checked to make sure were good..and pretty much every client that came that guys way..failed. Scott even admitted to a few managers/supervisors that Mr Landis was terrible and he made a mistake...but he felt "bad" because he had brought him out here...

So instead of correcting the problem lets just keep him on salary because he is a good friend....As far as randomly calling family and wrong numbers...FDCPA states we can contact once to try and get location information..for instance..the company I work for now..does that as well..1 call!!..then it is documented and added to a do not call list..where at FSA its repeatedly called even if a consumer calls in and asks for it not to be called again...more often than not..nothing is done about it...the information is taken..its verified that its a good relatives number..and repeatedly called...again.....against the law...

If you are threatened with liens judgements etc...know this...FSA does not have the authority or the power to place a lien judgement etc on your house or wages...or credit report for that matter...We are liaisons that's it..and last I checked...under FDCPA...a lawsuit cannot be threatened unless the proper paperwork has been field and the creditor intends to do so..On top of that most of the employees there are on some kind of drugs, but that's why a lot of low life's go into collections...no drug tests..which gives a lot of hard working polite collectors a bad reputation. They have quality assurance people who are supposed to be monitoring the collectors calls to make sure no laws are broken but they are easily paid off..Pretty much every criminal charge you can think of except things involving money...you can find someone at that agency who has been charged with with all of them..

I no longer work there obviously because I could not stomach the things that were going on around there...Again, like any job there are good people and bad people.Dont hold the bad against the good..\My advice to you would be to record every phone call and speak to an attorney...there are hundreds out there who are willing to defend you at no cost to you on harassment issues like this...I could go on and on...anymore questions and such feel free to contact me
