I bought an instrument from them three years ago. They advertise a 100% trade-in policy for any instrument bought new from the store. I bought a new instrument and they told me I could send in the old one for 100% of the value. I sent in the old one. I've never received compensation for the instrument. They just stole it from me. This was seven months ago.

If I'm clear here, Kevin was, in fact, attempting to use the previous purchase as a trade-in, but bought the new instrument first. If that's the case, then he is owed the money for the trade-in. The 100% Trade-in policy has been on the Folk of the Wood site for years. It certainly inspired me to buy from them.
Unfortunately, there are numerous complaints on banjo and mandolin forums about the policy not being honored. Kevin could join the many who have filed complaints with the BBB, or possibly contact an attorney.

If what you wrote is correct, I think what they said was TRADE IN on a new insturment. Why would they let you use it for 3 years and then give you your money back? Think about it. It doesn't make sense.
