My fiance and I went to Virginia Center Commons Mall on February 10, 2008 to order my wedding band for our up coming wedding. We found the one that we loved and we paid cash and was set to come in in 3-4 weeks.

About 3 and a half weeks goes by, and I haven't received a call that my ring had come in, so I call. They said my ring had not come in yet, but it should be in no later than March 10, 2008. So, I said okay. Well I called back today (March 7, 2008) so that I can pick it up this evening in case I couldn't make it over the weekend. I called and a gentleman answered the phone and told me that it had come in. I asked when it had come in, because I never received a call that it had arrived. He said he didn't have that information in front of him but would find out if I wanted. At that moment, it didn't matter, I was just glad it had come in, so I got off the phone.

I decided a few minutes later that I was curious as to when it had come in to see if it was any need to speak with the manager about not getting a call because its a wedding band and I need it ASAP. Well I call and a lady answers the phone and said it was in and that she was a new manager and had just started the previous Thursday, so she wasn't sure what was going on and could look through all the paperwork to see when it had come in, then she asks...."Well, why does it matter?" The manager of Friedman's Jewelers asked me why it matters when my ring came in. The fact that no one called me to let me know it had come in matters!! The fact that as soon as we give you our money you don't care about the customer service you provide matters!! The fact that its a wedding band and you don't know when my wedding is and it could be very time sensitive matters!! The fact that the customer has to call in to see if the ring has come in instead of the promised phone call from the sales person from when you made a purchase with their company matters!!

Extremely poor customer service from a "new" manager. I can't believe this manager gave me the attitude and rudeness to a customer who just spend a lot of money with her company and she's going to ask ME why it matters when the ring came in?!?! I would suggest NEVER using this Friedman's Jeweler's and I can guarantee you I am never using ANY Friedman's Jeweler's. It's ridiculous how drastically the customer service level drops after they have your money.

You really are throwing this way out of hand. They stated it would be in on the 10th, and it was there ahead of time. You didn't expect it before the 10th, therefore, you apparently weren't in a big hurry to have it BEFORE the 10th. It was somewhat rude they asked, "Why does it matter," but is it really? Why does it matter when the ring came in, as they stated it should be in by the 10th?
I have to agree with Cory on this situation.

It matters because a good manager shouldn't ask any customer why it matters that they know information about something they purchased in their store. I was mad that no one called me that it was in, then for a manager to ask, "why does it matter." was extremely out of line and rude to ask a customer who had just spent a lot of money with her store. She should have said "okay ma'am let me go check for you." and that would have been it.

Thats great that they may have a lot of people to call, get more than one person to call or tell the sales person not to promise a call when it came in.

To make matters worse, after I explained why it matters for me to know when the ring came in, she never did tell me nor did she tell my fiance when he went to pick up the ring. I can tell that customer service is not a top priority for them.... and thats fine because I wont be shopping there any longer.

They told you it would come in "no later then March the 10th". You called them on March the 7th and they told you it WAS in. That should have been the end of the matter. You should have been happy that the ring came in BEFORE the promise date but, NO. For some unknown reason you seem to want to make a big federal production out of it and demand to know when the ring came in. Again I ask you, What does it matter when the ring came in?

All things aside, a store on the ball would have given you a call to let you know your ring was in and eliminated all this BS. I call 10 or 15 people per day to let them know their items are in and maybe one or two will pick them up the first few days or not. Some of them sit here for a week or two or longer collecting dust. Been in the business for 24+ years and I've seen it all.
