I tried to get money out of an ATM in February. $390 - the ATM did not dispense the money and I got a receipt saying the transaction could not be completed, transaction canceled. When I went to another ATM, it showed that I had insufficient funds. I went online and checked my account and sure enough, the money had been taken out of my account. When I called the 800 number for the Walmart card, I was told that I needed to get the money from the bank because it showed that the money had been received at the bank. When I went to the bank, they said that their records showed that the money had been credited back to my account. I was told that I needed to send a dispute letter which I did but after 2 weeks, I called and was told that they never received my dispute letter. My mom was scheduled to have surgery a few days after that, and my daughter has been having problems, so this matter got put on the back burner for awhile - I had gotten an advance on my check at work, so at that time the money was not an issue. When I remembered and sent the second dispute letter, it was the first week in May so they received it on May 11. I was informed that there was a 10 day business day window so I called back today which was the 12th business day and was informed that 60 days had lapsed since the transaction had taken place, so there was nothing they could do. So basically they have stolen my $390. I was told that I needed to contact the bank which I am about to do, but I have been left with a bad taste in my mouth with this company. If anyone has a Walmart Money card, it would be in your best interest to cancel this card, because if you have any problems such as I had you will not receive any help. I contacted them several times well within the 60 days they are talking about and at no time did they tell me that I needed to send the dispute letter before 60 days. They are definitely a ripoff scam and they DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!

I had my boss at work call a number that was listed for Walmart managers to call about customer complaints and he was told that they could only talk to me, when I got on the phone, I was given the same story about the 60 day frame. I told them the bank had given me a print-out proving that the transaction had been canceled. I told them that I would send it, but once they received it, they still refuse to credit my account, saying that the bank has my money. I know that when we cancel a credit or debit transaction for a customer at Walmart - the money goes back into their account. Walmart has nothing to do with the money, the transaction is canceled therefore the money goes back into the account which means that my money should have been credited back to my account. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Texas and I am also going to file a complaint with the Attorney General of California as well and also with the Better Business Bureau. I urge everyone who has had problems with GE Money Bank to do the same. I also urge anyone who has a Walmart Money Card to cut it up and cancel the card.
