I recently got an email saying I am in danger of losing my domain name. My one domain name is the only product I still have with godaddy because every interaction I've ever had with them is an unbelievable headache. A day after getting the email, I try to log into my godaddy account but cannot remember the password. The service wants to email me a way to reset the password. I say ok, and wait for the reset email. At this point I realize my email has been shut off by godaddy. Shutting down the domain. I call into the call center. The rep wants my pin code. I do not have a pin code, never set one up. Then the rep wants my last 8 digits of credit card on file. It was over a year since I used a credit card with godaddy, and my card numbers have all been changed. I have no idea what card was used a year ago. The rep tells me I am out of luck then. Without a pin or last 8 of a credit card I no longer use, he will not help me. I never set up a pin I repeat. Well then one was assigned to you. Great how do I get it? I ask. You'll have to log into your account and you can see it there. I CAN'T GET INTO MY ACCOUNT. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE PASSWORD. WELL I CAN SEND YOU A PASSWORD RESET TO THE EMAIL WE HAVE ON FILE. I'M NOT GETTING ANY EMAIL BECAUSE YOU HAVE SHUT DOWN THE DOMAIN NAME. Well I'm sorry sir, those are our requirements, I cannot help you. There is no way for me to save my domain name of my business that I have had for over 10 years. Of course, in a week or so godaddy will be happy to give me my domain name for a few hundred dollars. Someone should investigate this corrupt company. In the past they have put unauthorized charges on my credit card, charged me more than was agreed to, and engaged in other shady financial dealings. Someone should investigate their financial practices. They seem to have many practices and procedures designed for no other purpose but to extract unearned income from the poor saps they call customers.

Obviously a shill for GoDaddy

No customer would make such a post. I have not been able to log in to godaddy in order to make my payment. I wanted to make the payment, but GoDaddy has a history and a pattern of making it very hard to renew your website so that they can grab your website and sell it back to you at very inflated prices. For any real consumers, read all the complaints here and on other websites, and you will see what I mean.

I want to pay my domain and move it but GoDaddy will not let me. I realize I am losing my domain and website of over 13 years to GoDaddy's well documented scam, but my hope is to spread the word to other consumers to be careful and NEVER use this horrible company. Read all the posts from thousands of unhappy customers.

I also plan to do my best to get local state and federal authorities inovolved in investigating this company and their practices.

It’s your fault for failing to renew the domain

“GoDaddy Steals Domain Names…”

You are no longer the owner of a domain after you let it expire. Acquiring an available domain isn’t stealing.
