GoDaddy They seem to have been hacked...but won't admit it Scottsdale Arizona

Got an email from GoDaddy, offering me a discount. Had my name, user ID, and email in it. I figured it was legit.

Clicked on the email. It took me to the GoDaddy site. I logged in, tried to buy a domain renewal. But, the discount code didn't work.

Contacted help. Went through a chat. The tech folks (two levels) claimed that the email was a phish. The discount wasn't valid (I didn't care at this point, anyway) but there was nothing else they could do or say.  No promises to tell me if my machine had been hacked by this email.  No explanation of how someone who was doing a phish could be using a Godaddy email address, know my ID, etc.

My guess is that GoDaddy has been hacked and they are trying to cover it up.  Would be a big problem if it is true and I suspect they are terrified anyone will find out.

I'd advise that you stop clicking on their marketing emails.  Maybe stop using them altogether.
