Great West Retirement Services Will Not Disburse my Funds Denver Colorado
*UPDATE Employee: I feel your pain

*UPDATE Employee: I feel your pain
I've been waiting for my 401K disbursement check since November 08. It is now June 6, 09. I have been out of work and out of money since then. Does Great West Retirement Services care? I have called and emailed dozens and dozens of times and get no answers. All I want to know is when I can expect to get my money. This year? A hundred years? I am put on hold till I hang up in disgust. Do they have any intention of sending my money, ever?

Chris, you may be waiting a while longer. I have seen cases like yours all too often. Great West is a very large company, and it is getting bigger all the time by buying up competitors to increase market share. The company is not growing naturally by being good at what it does, but rather it is growing unnaturally by taking over 401(k) plans from competitors.
This artificial growth has had some very negative impacts on the work ethic at this company. "Pass the buck" is the name of the game here. Employees have become masters of not taking ownership of problems and getting "issues" off their plates as quickly as possible with as little work done as possible.
The management of this company is wholly inept as they spend 90% of their time putting out fires instead of actually managing workers. It is all very sad, and folks like you are the ones who pay the price. We have clients leaving us in droves.
