Green Tree - Green Tree Finance - Green Tree Financial Services Harassing Phone Calls ripoff Saint Paul Minnesota

I have lived in my home for 13 years and after a nasty split with my ex 10 years ago, I had to file bankruptcy. I kept my house out of the bankruptcy, and because the mortgage company "forgot" to reassume the loan, none of my payments since then show on my credit report. That was the only problem I had, until Green Tree bought my mortgage. Since then I have had numerous harassing phone calls that, up until now, I have never done anything about; however, today was the last straw!

I received a call this morning from a computer generated call. Normally I just hang up on them; but for some reason I decided to see what it was about. This young man answers the phone and after stating who he was and who he was with, he bluntly asked what my intentions were with the house. I was confused, and asked him what he meant by that at which time he responded by stating that I was behind on my mortgage.

I asked him how could I be behind when they've cashed all my checks?!?! Come to find out that if your payment isn't PROCESSED by the 3rd of the month, you are automatically kicked into their system as past due!

I told him that if their system was so darn "proficient", then why doesn't it see that in 10 years (and 90% of the time) I have sent my payment in 1-2 weeks BEFORE it's due?! He said that he sees that, but his job is just to find out my intentions on the house, and that he can't do anything about the computerized calling set-up.

He then went on to ask me about the deceased co-signer, my grandmother. He stated that my file wasn't marked "do not inquire...deceased". His exact words were "I see that the co-signer is deceased; but your file isn't marked. It would be rather rude if someone asked about the deceased, so I need to mark it." Call me crazy, but didn't he just do what he said he was trying to prevent?!?!

I know how you feel Wendy and I'm sorry to say, but you are right. It may not be your classic "Rip-Off" scheme, but someone needs to get the word out about bad business practices, and the BBB doesn't seem to give a crap!

Doryn, I have some advice for you dear. If it makes you feel better to lie for your company, you keep right on doing it, because one day your actions will be judged by a Higher Power. Those of us who have experienced your company's "handy-work" know all too well that you either don't have a clue or you don't care. I will tell you the same thing I told the young man that called me this morning: "How can you sleep at night, knowing that you work for a company that harrasses people--living and deceased! I would rather die than to have to do the dirty work of a company like Gree Tree! You should be ashamed of yourself! Find your heart and then find another job!!"

Like Wendy, if I could afford to refinance, I would; but in a couple of years I will sell this over-interested piece of crap and mortgage my new home through a more reputable company, not some fly-by-night, change hands 20 times, mom & pop, mortgage company wanna-be!
