Groff Construction Took the money and ran Lehigh Acres Florida

This agony is long-lived, since 2003, but assuredly not anything like the poor folks that actually had Groff "build" a house for them. We have been taken for our deposit monies of $1350 and have nothing to show for it. I will admit that we have been remiss in tracking down the possibility of getting these funds back from Mr. Groff and especially in light of the previous listed complaints. I just thank God that we did not get in any deeper with this organization that deals in lies, chicanery, shell-games, excuses, false apologies and downright nastiness. Though almost 100% of our contact with the construction company was through emails, there was never any return address, just a "sent through the internet" at the top.

A Mr. Steve Humfleet was Mr. Groff's representative and, with the exception of a man that identified himself as Mr. Humfleet's assistant at one point, he was our only contact with the company. We had a mess with a lot that the owner told me by phone was not for sale, banks that were soliciting mortgages for/from us for construction of a manufactured home, an appraisal that had pictures and descriptions of a lot that was not even close to the one that we had looked at and photographed extensively and the fact that we NEVER RECEIVED ON PIECE OF PAPERWORK FROM GROFF INCLUDING COPIES OF CONTRACTS OR BLUEPRINTS OR CHANGE ORDERS, though they were requested many times over the phone, by email and in person. In Mr. Humfleet's emailed words, "I will forward your request"...(for supporting paperwork)..."to the Seller, Groff Construction, Inc. Mr. Groff can make the determination on exactly what he chooses to supply to you and in the fashion that he deems prudent.

I would be more than happy to send YOU copies of your original sales contract and all related paperwork that surrounds my involvement as a transactional broker in this transaction. This will include the original contract and any addendums or disclosures. I will equally forward your request to the mortgage company and they may respond as they fell necessary."

We NEVER received anything and never heard from them again. We do presently live in Florida but not close to Lehigh Acres or Mr. Groff business. I do hope that he has not taken in many more naive or innocent folks like us. Our education was relatively costly and will be remembered.
