Haverty's Furniture Sold Me Junk/Rude Service Memphis Tennessee

I bought $550 worth of coffee table/end tables from these scheisters. I picked them up myself to avoid paying their outrageously overpriced setup and delivery fees. Upon opening the boxes at home, I found that the merchandise was damaged. Both tables were covered with chips and scratches. I called and spoke with two rude, unsympathetic ladies: "Shannon" and "Gilda" and was told by both ladies that I had to return this box of junk to the airport warehouse, where I had originally picked it up, as opposed to the more conveniently-located store.

I informed them that I shouldn't have to drive all of the way to the airport from my home in Millington (over 35 miles) to return damaged product, as it isn't my fault. They refused to budge and held my money hostage until I gave in to their demands. To make matters worse, they stated that they would come and pick the box of junk up for a $100 fee.

My complaint is with them forcing me to spend my gasoline and time to return THEIR damaged product.

So, it's okay to sell me a box of scratched up, cheaply-made furniture . . . then force me to drive 35 miles to return it? Regardless of what the fine print said when I bought the tables, this is poor customer service.

I filed a complaint with the better business bureau, but it's hard to deal with an entity that is funded by the very people you are complaining about. The company's response was that I was given the opportunity to pay them even more money to make this okay. I think that is a pompous attitude to take when dealing with a paying customer.

I would urge anyone reading this to take their money elsewhere when buying furniture because if you have a problem (with the poor quality of Haverty's furniture lines, odds are you will have problems) you are on your own.

Haverty's is the worst furniture company that I have ever dealt with. I wish I had heeded the advice of prior customers, but I foolishly decided to shop there.
