After a few months of unsuccessfully trying to negociate a loan modification with my mortgage bank I watched a t.v. commercial from Home Defense Law Group where they say that they help you through the modification proccess and that they will save your home from foreclosure. I thought I had found the right people to help me. So I made my first contact with Home Defense Law Group on May 20, 2011. Said by the way, there are no attorneys at Home Defense Law Group, they refered their cases to Dorough, Calzada, and Soto law offices in Orlando. I made a down payment of $1895 and scheduled monthly payments of $495  for the next six months to be deducted from my debit card. But of course "Regular monthly payments continue until the case is settled". Ten months later I received a letter from an attorney from Ft. Lauderdale where he indicated that my home had a foreclosure sale date within the next five days and offered his services to help me with this action. This took me by surprise since I was never notified of such action. I called the mortgage bank to try to negotiate some solution with them and they said they would stop the foreclosure process if I paid something close to $40,000. I hung up and called Home Defense Law Group and was told not to worry because my lawyer would attend the foreclosure hearing and that he would stop the action from taking place. They even told me that  I didn't need to be present at the hearing. Well, the house went into foreclosure and everything began to get complicated. At that hearing the bank bought the property for $100. I don't know where my lawyer was that day. Attorney Ricardo Calzada III was supposed to be the attorney representing me but after reviewing the court documents after that, there was no lawyer representing me before the court. The only solution now, according to attorney Ricardo Calzada III, file for bankruptcy. So he introduced me to attorney Jessica Meyer from Cocoa Beach. After debating on which chapter to pursue for the bankruptcy we decided to go for the chapter 13, so I made a down payment to her for about $1800 and then monthly payments through the bankcruptcy plan.  A couple of months later attorney Jessica Meyer was removed from my case and attorney Ricardo CalzadaIII introduced me to attorney James T. Harper Jr from Merritt Island who was going to continue my case at no extra cost. A few months later I was laid off from work and began to have difficulties in keeping up with the chapter 13 payments, and so the case was eventually dismissed by the court. At this time attorney James T. Harper Jr told me that the only way that I could keep my home was to file another chapter 13 bankruptcy and, of course, for a convenient down payment fee of $1800 plus montly payments for 60 months through the bankruptcy plan. This worked out for a few months until the company that I was working for was experiencing a substantial decrease in sales and I was laid off again this time with other 14 co-workers. Again I began to have difficulties in keeping up with my payments and eventually the court dismissed my case again.

Once again my attorney James T Harper Jr told me that the only way for me to keep my home was to file for another chapter 13, as you already know, for a very convenient down payment fee of $1800 and 60 monthly payments made through the chapter 13 plan. I paid him the $1800 but before filing again I went to get a second opinion fron another lawyer. People, a chapter 13 bankruptcy only buys you time while you pay your old debts, it is only an extension of the agony of trying to save your home while you live in it. If you really want to put your bank against the wall go for a chapter 7 and let the bank know that if they don't want to negotiate they will have to eat your home as well as your debt. And believe me, banks don't want more houses, all they want is money. I called attorney James T Harper Jr. to let him know that I was not going to file for the chapter 13 and asked him to reimburse my down payment fee of $1800. His response was "NO, WE DID OUR JOB". I don't see where. He didn't even file the motion for the last case.

So today, December 19, 2014 I am standing on the same spot as I was back in May 20, 2011, and after spending a few thousand dollars in trying to save my home, these lawyers didn't do CRAP.

Now I have filed for a chapter 7 with a repectable law firm and became DEBT FREE!!!!!

Hopefully the bank will try to negotiate with me now since they will lose a substantial amount of $ if they don't.

Beware of scams and watch the reviews first before making decisions.
