Having been born in this country and raised as an american it is my (and your) given right to the freedom of speach. However this right and that right of others has been taken away by the "moderators" of the forums of Horsetopia.com. You can not speak your mind there (no I do not mean by cussing or being foul, just being frank/blunt about your feelings on a subject) you can not post there what you think or feel.

My account was deleted for posting this very topic. I am beseaching anyone that may consider using this venue to sell their equines or related items to not do such. There are other online venues that get better results anyway, but why support an organization that is anti american and a destroyer of your basic rights? Discussions by other members were either locked or deleted when the topic got too "controversial" You pay to advertise on this site, I belive that warrents the user to be able to speak their mind. Go ahead Horsetopia.com, try to block this.

Forum Rules

AUTHOR: Devilsadvocate4education*just My Opinions* - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 05, 2009

When we sign up for a forum, we agree to their rules. If a moderater is actually using the forum to sell their horses, that IS a violation of their rules. Most discussion forums follow a strict rule of no breeder bashing. In other words, while you may discuss things in general, you MAY NOT discuss them as they pertain to a particular person or business. If you do, you get deleted, and/or booted. If they allowed it, things would rarely be 'discussed' as is their intent.
So when you say - Unsafe, unhealthy, and inhumane practices are condoned and if someone speaks out against them, they are banned. - Were people naming specific people or businesses? That is a direct violation of the rules. Forum rules and FAQ - You may not specify an individual person or business when making a negative or critical comment. People CAN generally ask you about it privately though, just not on the public posts. It is rule #1. I didn't give the details, but that IS the gist of it. And is a commmon rule for forums unless it is part of their specific purpose like good ol' ROR. And look at all the posts which are nothing more than breeder wars here .............. *just my opinions*

The First Amendment applies to the government, not "Horsetopia" or other private individuals

AUTHOR: Ann - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 04, 2009

FYI. The First Amendment does not apply to private individuals or entities. It explicitly applies to Congress and, through interpretation by the Supreme Court, has been found to apply to the judicial and executive branches, as well as to state and local governments via the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Horsetopia is not the government, hence, it can make and apply whatever moderation rules it likes, regardless of whether you've paid to advertise on their site.

I am an attorney and a pet peeve of mine is when people cry "First Amendment violation!" in totally inappropriate situations. You're welcome for the free education.

Horsetopia message board

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 04, 2009

I have experienced the same thing with Horsetopia as this person is says. Most of the moderators are extremely unfair and inconsistant in their moderation. One moderator uses the forum to sell her horses. Unsafe, unhealthy, and inhumane practices are condoned and if someone speaks out against them, they are banned. I would not advertise with Horsetopia because I would not want my business associated with them.
