Warning! Do not use Hostgator in any way, or related sister companies!  HOSTGATOR is a big Rip-Off!

During the time, with Hostgator, I lost within 2 1/2 years at least $60-70.000 (I am able to PROOVE this at any time, as I have an Adsense account and webstatistics on file! Just with my main website, i had about 4000 unique visitors each day, giving me for quiet some years of work and long nearly daily working hours £1400 Pounds (UK). The hosting company, closed worldwide their hosting in May 2012, which was acceptable, as they anounced it 6 months in advance.

I moved to Hostgator, building from scrap, large parts of my website new up, linking and building! My income fell by half in July and August. I expected this to be happen for some weeks, as Google had to index my newly build pages, under the well known domain name... It continued to fall, even that I worked hard on links and reputation. It fell to £350, but falling even further, at it`s lowest level of just about £100!  Due again, hard work, the level is now by £170 each month. BUT - Included in that £170 Pounds are 10 new websites (all via Hostgator!!!, and one main money bringer; with sharepoint.com) * Still, I was asleep, not thinking of Hostgator, but rather of Google....

If I calculate just the main website losses, they are 1:15!

NOW - the question, WHY I say, they have caused serious losses...:

Hostgator is offering BaseKit as their website builder (Now offered for re-seller accounts only), but due my contract, taking webhosting out in April/May 2012, I still have this in my 2 hosting accounts with them.

Adsense offers now Google Analytics, which I did not use until recently, as I still use other states, to see visitor flow.

Well, yes - I checked the basics with Adsense account, as this is giving you an good idea. Also, as many are aware - Google is and was updating, how they search the internet. So, many websites dropped in visitors. And, I alway believed, this might be the cause of visitor losses. So, I increased the quality of content, added even more related images....

But, just 3 weeks ago, after getting more and more suspicious, as Hostgator is again giving us paying customrs problems.

Due technical faults with their BaseKit website builder, only 2 - out of 800 images - And this is just one of my websites, hosted with Hostgator! My images are NOT indexed at Google, but of this 2.

Just to compare - My images hosted with Sharepoint - show up with Google! (Nearly all of them!)

Why is that: The image address is follow; Mydomain . Sharepoint . com / images / name of the image....

My websites hosted with Hostgator: files.cluster2.hgsitebuilder . com/hostgator12345/image/My-Image-Name-smaller

* Therefore, my images are NOT related to my domain, which is an fault by Hostgator!

Advise given by HG Staff: namely JEREMY R (Linux System Adm.) ... to upload all images directly to the root folder (one by one) or FDP, creating an extra image folder... and then linking to each single image...! What an JOKE! Have since 3 weeks a senseless and helpless conversation, he telling me that "SEO" is not supported by HG! What SEO? It`s not an SEO Problem, but an technical problem!

The site map is returning an DISALLOW with robots.tx ... and  Mr JEREMY R. is telling me this would not have any impact on Google`s indexing. Well, my Google account is telling me a different story. And even Google is sending Warning messages out, regarding this problem.

Sitemap - What is important on this, that Google can read the site map? Well, that is for search engine to know, your pages and links on your webste...

Just during the last 14 days, 5 times offline, due "Updating" INCLUDED TODAY.. (I am not even today, Sunday able to update my websites...!)

You may ask now, what is so important, of having images listed... My question to you would be: Would you use FaceBook, if there were no images? And why do so many people go to all this image hosting websits? For the pictures..

So, no images listed with Google means - simpley - no visitors! People are visual, text alone os booring...

I strongly advise, anyone with an BaseKit hosting to check, if they are listed with images (and how many), via site : your website / robots.txt .. as this might be an very serious problem! It will keep all the visitors away from your website, who search for images via Google, or Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Baido and so on! I have lost lots of traffic, due this issue, and feed up, with Hostgator, as they find always an excuse, why this or that is not working!

Now: If I have that problem... so have others too! (I already found some websites hostet with Hostgator, with similar issues!) The good thing for Hostgator is, that they are not, or might not be aware of that problem. If they website ownwers are aware, and connect together, that would mean a BIG, BIG wave of CLAIMS against Hostgator, as they as sellers have an resposibility, of an working website! That is what they advertise! That is what they say!

They don`t tell you, that parts of their stuff is not working right! They want to make money! At our cost!

If there is any way, to take this Hostgator to court! I was blended by their promissing advertisement, and it has taken me 2 1/2 good years, to find the fault of loosing that much visitors!

I am at the moment in direct contact with Weebly, to see, what they can offer me, as I have quiet some few of my websites (and domains) with Hostgator, even on different accounts, to divide my websites to different servers! (Means I am paying Hostgator stupidly even more money, than I would need to do) .

ADVISE: Check Weebly DIRECT (Very fast respose time, when created a first free mini website, and only there is the latest version, included an BLOG and automatically change to proper full MOBILE website, if visitor use mobiles !), Webs . com (Up to 3 domains on one account, included 1 free domain name), or Sharepoint . com (Have one of my domains there - with no problems (about £6 per month for an single user/admin.    One last word: My oldest domain hosted now -still- with Hostgator was first online at this very time... in the Year 2000

Happy Cristmas to all!

It`s about Pictures, at Hostgator! Not the CMS ,Content Management System, Website Builder

AUTHOR: Angry - ()

POSTED: Thursday, January 01, 2015

Hello,

Thanks for your suggestions, about building a website from "Scrap"! Well, this my oldest FULL website, was online late December 2000. Since then, I have had the opptunity, to try some different website builders, offline and online.

But I am not writing here about BaseKit website builder, which is actualy not too bad, but about the issue, that all images uploaded via Hostgator`s Basekit Sitebuilder, don`t show up on Google! BaseKit it-self, is also using an other website (and different name), for all uploads, but it works. It is not really important, where your image file is located, but it is important, that you don`t block this files for Google! And that is exactly, what Hostgator is doing!

Have also been in contact with BaseKit, they where very fast and friendly... but they also don`t know, why images don`t show up, and suggested an BaseKit test website, which I created. Have just to wait now, that Goole is indexing that linked website now!

As I wrote erlier, I have quiet some few websites (and images show up, ...if not hosted with Hostgator), 3 important MAIN Websites (with many pages), are directly with Hostgator, via this HG-Site-Builder! All the same. No pictures, but via textsearch not too bad!

Problem: Due one of the website is an photographer website, and the other -oldest one- an tourism website, I have lost many, many visitors and traffic! This are my "image" websites, for people, who check for holiday or wedding and event pictures!

I tested Weebly (as SUB-DOMAIN|) - PERFECT! Within 3-4 days, my pictures are indexed and listed with Google! I re-directed some domains to my sharepoint and one to the Weebly website. Google is indexing pictures of the page, as pictures of the re-directed domains! Not an full re-direction, but just pointing the Main-Page of that domain to one page of an other website!

Speaking of "Web-Designers" and website builder: Website Builder is all what 95% of people use! CMS (Content Management System), called earlier! Even a software, to help you building your website directly on yur computer, is an website builder! (And then uploading to your choosen host)

The issue here is: That images hosted on www.HGsitebuilder.com are in one ore an other way BLOCKED by Hostgator, for Google (as Yahoo, Bing, Yandex show some pictures)! Might be regarding saving Bandwith, as Google is far more crawling and indexing, than any other engine!  OR it is an "simple" technical FAULT, from Hostgator!

I am not sure, what the reason is! Sure is that: Google is not able to index my files! (Pictures, Audio and PDF)!

I tested some images (Using HTML image code) - not located at Hostgator - As that guy sudggested, and yes - also they show up on Google! I know all that!

Example: Out of 4 pictures used on thatphotographer webste, wia the image frame HTML, 3 of them already show up, beside some other few pictures, I used from an other website!

But again, this is not the issue! The issue remains, that my uploaded files located on Hostgator, don`t show up!

Whatever site builder you use, what-ever immage location you use, as long as all settings are right; Google will index them! Esp. if the website is now about 15 years old!

It`s an website with about 450 real content pages, and I have not counted the sub-domains in! I might have with this website 1500 or more pages). Alone, out of this reason, I need Hostgator to sort this mess out!

Happy New Year!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

That's the Way Web Builders Work

AUTHOR: 5YearWinter - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 29, 2014

While I am sorry for your lose in funds the described issues are just the way most of these drag and drop web builders work.  They are designed to be easy to use for the consumer and because of that a lot of the actions are streamedlined such as your issue with images having a different location name than your domain name.  The advice that the tech, Jeremy, gave is 100% accurate.  While it may not have been the easiest thing to do he was not wrong.

In your case when you found that the web builder simply did not work in the way you needed for your site you should have just kindly moved on to a host that can help.  This does not make HostGator a rip off, they just don't have a service that works for what you are trying to do.

Yes those web builders seem very easy and are marketed as such but they aren't the best thing for a fully functional website.  My recommendation is to build the site yourself or hire someone to do as such if the web builders just aren't getting what you want out of them.
