I had Humana Gold as a Medicare Advantage plan from 2005-02/01/2007 as my Drug and health coverage Plans all in one.  That is until one day I went to my local COSTCO pharmacy to pickup my usual prescriptions and found that I no longer had any Insurance coverage.  I called Humana and the representative said that he could not find any file for me, but that he could sigh me up right then for Medicare prescription coverage so that I could get my prescriptions.  Well he did, and I got my prescriptions, but then found that I still no longer had any medical coverage.

So again I called Humana, and this time I was told that Medicare had removed me from there plan, so I called Medicare, and they told me that they do not remove anyone from their choice of plans, and that there records showed that I was still with Humana.  After several weeks of calling Humana and getting bounced around in a game of phone tag, I finally gave up since I was in dire need of Medical Insurance coverage and finally went with Universal Any, Any, Any Healthcare Plan.

                                                BEWARE

Below is Humanas present sales pitch for Medicare health coverage, if you get drawn in by this line you to could find yourself unexpectedly hung out to dry with no coverage at all.

In your report, you state you HAD coverage with Humana between 2005 - 2/2007.  (I am interpreting this to mean you were dropped by Humana in February 2007).  I'm curious as to why are you only now filing a report here?

Did you consider completing the on-line complaint form Medicare provides on their website at the time you were "dropped without any warning?"  Did you consider sending a certified mail letter (with a return receipt request) to Humana to insist they provide you the reason for being dropped from their plan?

While I have some empathy for your experience...it also sounds like you could have done more on your end to ascertain just what was going on with Humana.  I do, however, agree that Medicare recipients (of which I myself am one such person)...should very carefully check out and compare the various Medicare Advantage Plans and other plans thoroughly...before you select one.

In my own reviews of the numerous plans, many of them do not provide much more than original Medicare itself provides, which essentially amounts to a waste of money (i.e. paying the insurance plan's premium in addition to your Part B Medicare premium).

I would hope your "universal" plan is working out better for you.
