Brought my vehicle in for a warrantee service. They had to replace a part in my transmission. I was over by 400 miles on warrantee but had extended warrantee. They charged me $100.00 for deductable on my warrantee but reported to Ford that my mileage was under the original warrantee mileage. They pocketed the money.

I asked the sales manager to waive the $100.00 and he told me that he wasnt motivated to do anything for me.
The service manager told me he would refund the $100.00 but never has.

Here is a history as to what has happened ...

Huntersville Ford
will take advantage of you if they have the chance.

I have purchased or leased 3 Ford Expeditions and Ford and Huntersville Ford could care less. The most recent was a pre-owned highly recommended Ford Expedition 2002 Eddie Bauer. It had 18,000 miles and was certified by Ford and came with a 7 year warrantee. After about 12,000 more miles it started making a noise in the transmission. So I took it in after I could reproduce the noise to let the dealer (Huntersville Ford) see it. Here is the chain of events that followed.

Huntersville inspected the truck and determined the Torque Converter needed to be replaced. But I would need to pay a $100.00 deductible. They never mentioned any deductible when I was signing and initialing the sales contract. They only had me sign and initial the areas that were important to Ford. My bad for not reading carefully the multi page fine print contract.

Then they told me that the transmission fluid needed changing and the front brake pads needed replacing. What the hell happened to the pre-owned certification with over 100 point inspection. After all they never said that they fixed anything from their 100 point inspection only that they did one. My bad again.

So I go in to Huntersville Ford to pick up the vehicle and go to see my sales person first (Bill Cox) And explain to him the situation with the $100.00 deductible since the truck was so new to me anyway and the transmission problem had been going on awhile and I could have brought the truck in sooner if I new there was a 36,000 mile warrantee issue. (The truck had 36,400 miles when I brought it in) Bill said he would go talk to his sales manager to see if they would waive the $100.00 deductible and when he came back this is exactly what he had to say to me.

"My manager said that since you have owned the truck for 8 months now that frankly he is not MOTIVATED to do anything for you"

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Is this the definition of Ford customer appreciation?

So I took action and had a service/warrantee report run on my Expedition by a friend in the auto industry only to find this out. Huntersville Ford put on my bill that my truck had 36,400 miles (which was correct) but reported to Ford Motor Company that the truck only had 33,891 miles which was within the original manufacturers warrantee period. This means they pocketed the $100.00 that they were not motivated to do anything about.

I was told that this is warrantee fraud and Ford Motor Company does not seem to care. Ford tells me that this is an issue that I needs to taken up with Huntersville Ford and Ford is not going to get involved. In other words Ford Motor Company does not stand behind their product nor do they care about the treatment of their customers.

Although it is only $100.00 it is the point that a dealer is willing to stoop to this level to get this little amount of money. And in my opinion if I purchase a certified pre-owned Expedition form Ford It shouldn't have these problems (Brakes, Transmission Fluid) within a few months.

Ford is giving us the run around and will not get involved in the Dealer's business. Dan Parks the owner of Huntersville Ford will not respond to our letters. His Service manager Randy did call me on Dan's behalf and give me mumbo jumbo about mileage differences being a issue with different computer systems blah blah blah. I recorder this conversation and as many times as I play it back it doesn't make sense to me even though I have been working in the computer software industry for 16 years.

Randy even told me that he would credit my credit card for the $100.00 but never did. Huntersville Ford actually argued with my credit card company that the charges were legitimate.

Any way my point is that times must be tough and Ford must be willing to do anything to make a buck or 100.

We sent another Letter to the owner of Huntersville Ford (Dan Parks) and again he passed it off to Randy. Randy again took about an hour of our time trying to convince us they did nothing wrong. But again in the end he said he would credit us the $100.00 (even though Ford made them pay the deductible finally after we complained) We said to email this in writing by Friday, four days away. Well Friday came and went and again we were blown off by Randy.
To date the only thing that Huntersville Ford has stood by is the original quote from my sales person (Bill Cox) relayed from his Sales Manager.
"My manager said that since you have owned the truck for 8 months now that frankly he is not MOTIVATED to do anything for you"

Well over a week has passed and still no email or call from Randy. Guess they are hoping that their problem will just go away. Dan parks has not tried to contact us either. Maybe he is telling Randy to ignore us. What else could it be?

3-18-2004
Still no contact from Huntersville Ford.

Question for you the reader: Do you still want to purchase a vehicle from Huntersville Ford? Let me know.
