iFix and Repair iScrewed by iFix Dothan Alabama

We took an iPad 3 to iFix on December 20th to have a broken screen replaced. We called later that evening and went to pick it up after they said it was complete. We tested the iPad while at the store in front of an iFix employee, and the power button wouldn’t work, the magnetic closure to put the iPad to sleep wouldn’t work, and you couldn’t lock/unlock the iPad. They also scratched the body of the iPad around the edges when they replaced the screen. He made a note of the issues and agreed we could bring the iPad back for repair after the holiday. While we had it, the screen detached from the iPad body. We took it back to iFix on or about January 9th. We had to swipe (erase all content) off the iPad for them to repair it, so we had to buy a new one to replace this one in the interim. We have received NO communication from anyone with iFix since that time unless we’ve called for a status. We have called numerous times to speak with the manager and the original employee dealing with us on this. Each time it was the same story…they’re working on it. I also emailed all of the contacts on the iFix website and never received a response. The iPad has still not been repaired and we can be given no time frame when it will be. I called months ago and the manager no longer works with iFix. We have been continually told they’re working on it but can’t get it repaired. We spoke with Amber Wells, District Manager with iFix, (706-343-2500) approximately the first of April, a month after the BBB complaint was filed, and she said they would not refund the amount we paid for the repair and they were unable to repair the iPad. How does a business operate in such a manner? They are incapable of performing a service you paid them to perform and yet they won’t refund what you paid.

After the complaint with the BBB was filed, I was contacted by Rhonda Clark the Specialty Leasing Manager from Wiregrass Commons Mall (334-792-7734) several times and she was supposedly contacting the owner about our situation and several others. She received a copy of the BBB complaint and contacted me. I had another conversation with Rhonda on May 22nd and I told her that we were done with the whole ordeal and would be seeking legal counsel. Amazingly enough once we mentioned legal counsel, we had a call from Amber Wells with iFix and she said they would be sending the iPad to someone else to have it repaired. Amber assured my husband that she would call him no later than the following Friday (May 30th) to advise a status. Needless to say, in true iFix form, there was no call. They have NEVER called to communicate with us, not once throughout this whole ridiculous ordeal. We have been the ones contacting them for resolution. My husband contacted Amber and she said they had just had an opportunity to look at the iPad and they would be in touch.

Today is June 12th and we have not heard a word from anyone. I have had contact with two other individuals with similar issues with iFix, so ours is not an isolated incident. This time we are done with them and their empty promises and will be seeking legal counsel the first of next week. I don’t care if it costs me more than the iPad is worth to have them called out publicly for poor business practices.
