my laptop needs a new LCD Invertor -- my display goes dead after 2 minutes but works fine with an extermal monitor. I ordered a replacement after a live chat that they said based on the above problem it was my LCD invertor that was bad. I received it installed it and sill had the same problem -- dead display after 2 minutes. I got back to chat and got authorized to get a cross shipped replacement. I mail the 1st one back. The 2nd one arrived and my display still dies after 2 minutes. I got back to chat (live help link) and all they said they were not responsible for a mis diagnosed problem. but offered to send a 3rd one when i asked about a refund. They said it was possible to have sent 1 bad invertor but not 2. neither one worked as my display still goes dead after 2 minutes. their policy does say "If we cannot provide a working part in a timely fashion they will give a complete refund including shipping." both invertors they sent do not work as they go dead after 2 minutes. if i ship the part back they will only send another one out. but i wind up paying shipping -- so eventually the shipping will end up costing me more than the part. --I mentioned that I paid with a Credit Card and could dispute it there. their responce was "go ahead" -- but i am right now stuck with a their non-working LCD invertor. I want a refund but if i ship the part back at my expense they will just keep sending me more invertors.

Dear David,

We will do whatever is necessary to ensure you receive either a properly working replacement part, have a store credit placed on file, or receive a full refund.

Regarding your specific transaction, we shipped you out a replacement part at our expense with no questions asked. When your second inverter shipped, it was tested by a technician to avoid further confusion.

The likelihood that we shipped you two faulty inverters is close to zero. It is more likely that something inside your computer is causing each installed inverter to fail, or you simply misdiagnosed your problem. Either way, we fulfilled our obligation when we shipped your part the same day you ordered it, and then when we provided a cross shipment at our expense even prior to receiving the original. We did this for you as a courtesy to limit your downtime. We then extended you an additional courtesy by offering to send out a third replacement at our expense, but you refused and proceeded to threaten us.

Our site clearly stated then as it does today that replacing the inverter fixes most display problems about 85% of the time (17 out of 20 times) but certainly not every time. In no way do we guarantee that replacing the inverter will fix your problem. In no way are we able to diagnose problems remotely either over the phone or through live support.

Other popular but less likely causes of LCD display failures are:
a blown CCFL tube located inside your LCD panel
substandard voltage coming from your main board
a broken filament inside one of the connecting cables
a faulty LCD panel.

At this time, you are not eligible for a refund since we have met our obligation and incurred considerable costs on this transaction. However, we can offer you 10% off your next purchase. We carry a full line of LCD inverters and LCD panels to choose from. With thousands of units in stock, we will do our best to meet your future needs.

We hope that your diligence in posting this complaint continues with a prompt response. While it is true that we typically do not offer refunds for misdiagnosed problems, we do offer a free one-time exchange and in some cases, place credit on file. Refunds are issued only if we cannot locate a properly working part. The delivery timeframe depends on how rare the part is and how long it has been out of production.

If a customer buys the last unit of a certain item, we either locate a replacement, which often takes time, or place a credit on file. We cannot allow customers to take advantage by insisting that we cater to misdiagnosed problems or accepting damaged parts returned in exchange for working parts. Our primary goal is to provide properly working replacements for out of production and end of life equipment.

Sincerely,

Customer Service & Support
