I paid good money for System Mechanic 7. I installed it on my computer that is connected to the internet. No problem, had to validate my purchase. The problem came when I tried to install it on my 2nd computer which is non internet ready - the reason is it is used for offline work and mostly game playing. I contacted Iolo and explained the problem.

I got an email back stating it could not be installed unless it was connected to the internet. As an FYI do not purchase this product if you will be using for a computer that does not have access to the internet. What a rip off! Paid for it but can't use it. This is the last time I will purchase from this company and will be sure to pass this on to others.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Iolo Technologies scams consumers, run by Noah Rowles -- Allison Mack director of public relations

AUTHOR: Rw - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Steer clear of all products made by this company. I bought one of their software products for $69.99 plus tax at Fry's months ago. The box claimed would revive dead drives. It also had a 100% money back guarantee if it didn't work. Well guess what? It didn't work. I went to Fry's the next day to return it, and Fry's refused to take it back because it was opened. They told me I had to get my money back from Iolo instead.

So I called Iolo. First they gave me a claim number, and made me fax them my receipt with the claim number. Then I had to call them back to get an RMA number (which turned out to be the same number - part of their game). You see Iolo tries to make it so miserable and difficult a process that you won't pursue the 100% guaranteed refund.

I then had to incur the cost of shipping the item back to them with tracking. Months went by. I tried following up by phone but never got a live person.

Finally a PARTIAL check arrived. They had the nerve to deduct a 10% restocking fee!

So It cost me almost $20 out of pocket on a product that didn't do what it promised.

Now I've been trying to get Michael Blackwell on the phone. He's the customer service asst mgr (according to the partial refund letter). He doesn't seem to exist. Calls to Iolo are routed to "tech support." The phone system says "press 6 for a name directory" but when you press 6, you get the receptionist who says she is not allowed to transfer calls to the executive offices.

I've then called Allison Mack, their publicity relations manager at 323 423-1030. She also lies, and transfers me to tech support.

Iolo Technologies has no integrity along with false advertising. Do NOT buy any products of theirs.

Hmmm... seems they are hiding over there. Iolo has not returned any calls. I have given them multiple warnings that if they didn't behave like an honest company, I'd review them here.

Everyone needs to call Iolo at 323-257-8888 and make sure the receptionist lets Noah Rowles, the CEO & President know his business is getting a bad rep... that is if he even cares.

Better yet, write Noah Rowles directly at 1085 CORONET AVE, PASADENA, CA 91107. According to Zabasearch, that's his address.
