Just thought I should pass this on regarding IPIU:
"INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS UNION
"International Private Investigators Union, also known as IPIU, is the most blatant of all unethical scams in the industry. They run a classic "Bait and Switch" scam by running classified internet ads nationwide under help
wanted - Attorney Services. The unsuspecting job seeker is then directed to join IPIU for $59-$89 and made to believe that it is a legitimate "union" or private investigator association and members will be receiving private investigator related jobs which they never do. They also require members to fill out FBI fingerprint cards and have them pay for an FBI warrant check which is never done and, in fact, illegal to do.
"IPIU's misdirects the viewer on its website into believing that they are located in Canada by using a Canadian PO Box and phone number but which call forwards to it real offices in Montana. By misdirecting its complaints to the Better Business Bureau in Canada, IPIU avoids any scrutiny by U.S. law enforcement authorities. IPIU will not divulge the owner's name or their physical address which is not characteristic of an
ethically run, law enforcement related business.
"IPIU's offices are located at 470 Electric Ave., Bigfork, Mt. 59911.
The owner is Jeremy Lancaster, 55 years, and runs the business with his wife, Jean. They have three offices at that location with the signs "Attorney Services" and "Bureau for Business Ethics" on the outside. Former
employees have said that they left their jobs because of ethical reasons. Public records indicate the following legal action against Jeremy Lancaster: $4,367 state tax lien in 1996, $5,748.00 federal tax lien in 2000 and a
$129,151.00 federal tax lien in 200.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Phone Number and some other info. They are in Bigfork Montana
AUTHOR: Randy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, December 04, 2004
The correct phone number for this company is 406-837-1274.
They are not in Canada or anywhere else, regardless of what anyone says. They are in Bigfork Montana, at the above address. You can use the side door that says Law Offices of Attorney Services, or you can go in the front door of the building, turn left, go around to the back of the building, then go upstairs. This will take you to the other entrance of the offices.
When I worked there, you had to wear a shirt and tie, even though there was never any public contact. And, for some reason, the ladies in the office had to wear only skirts or dresses, except on Fridays, when it was casual day.
So, regardless of the other posts, with all of the lame rebuttals, I do have information on this company. And, I have forwarded it to the Oregon Board of Investigators, also to the Attorney General of Illinois, and the Attorney General of the state of Montana.
Additionally, there isn't any background check, and the FBI fingerprint cards are sitting in a filing cabinet, under the person's name, along with all of the other identifiable information.
During my time there, the filing cabinets were on the first floor, while the rest of the offices were upstairs.
So, regardless of what some of the rebuttals say, this info regarding where they are, and the different forum names chosen by Jeremy, and the supposed locations, I do know the truth. I worked there, I was an administrator on the forums, and I got my a*s chewed out when I questioned why certain persons were banned from the forums, when I read what they were questioning, and I asked why they got the boot. Since I left about 2 years ago, there are only 3 of the original 12 still there.
So, feel free to debate with me. I am waiting.
