Sure, this is somewhat to make me feel better.  But anybody reading this who does not take it seriously deserves anything that happens to them if they make the mistake of being a web hosting customer of IX Web Hosting.

First, I need to say that many web hosting companies do not tell you the truth.  They mislead in their advertising, then when they have you as a customer, send you compliments on your web site (as bate to do more business with them), then let it ride for a while.

But if you have a multimedia web site (and I do NOT mean video streaming), and there is the slightest chance of you going over 16 Gb (about 1/3 of the smallest local drive available today), then know they WILL terminate your service.  It is only a matter of when.  Their terms describe that in a shared hosting environment, that they can determine how much "unlimitted" disk space means.  If it is over the average (the words of an agent) or specifically in this case, 16Gb, you'll get a suspension notice not because you have violated a term, but because you are too expensive for them.  It is arbitrary when they do this, and their own tools that tell you how much disk you are using indicate that you are using a very small amount.  That's another deceptive issue with the service.

Mind you that a week after I got the pending termination notice and after I had reduced disk as much as I could to 28Gb, they told me it was not good enough.  Then to really seal the deal, they actually sent me the annual notice to renew my account.  Can you believe that?

Now, to be perfectly fair, users should not be misled by any web hosting company as all of their language has similar misleading terms.  And of course, you have to know that they write the contract so they have all the rights and you have none.

Lastly, I've submitted this as a complaint to the New York State Attorney General's Office, not to restore my service because I wouldn't want it with them, but so the NYS Attorney General enforces honesty about the terms "unlimited disk space" and "unlimited bandwidth".
