About two years ago my mom heard about a audition on 95.1 FM for teenagers from ages 12-17(or around that age group). Once my mom told me about this i was really excited because i had been in drama all through middle school and have always dreamed of some how, some way getting in an acting/modeling agency. I thought that this was it and i went to the audition.

Once i got there they gave me a sheet of paper that had all these commercial slogans and phrases and i had to pick one to memorize and say later that evening to audition with. There was about 100 people there and everyone looked so serious about this whole thing so i wasnt worried it was a scam. I have always heard about scams and for some reason i felt like this agency wasnt a scam from what i was hearing from other teenagers and parents there that night.

So, i memorized one of the Pepsi commercial slogans and practiced it over and over agian to get it perfect. We waited in this long line and finally i went into the camera room where they had me perform it to them while they filmed it and while 3 judges watched me. Then after that you had to go into this rooom and the head lady of the place(i forget her name), told me they would call me back if i made the first audition since they had one more day left of people that wanted to audition.

I waited two days and they called me back saying how they wanted to see me agian and how i was chosen out of 300 girls to come back. Thinking i was doing really good and having hopes of getting closer to fame i went back. They said i made it again and wanted me to sign up for acting classes since no one would take me never take me not having any classes before. I noticed they always were talking to everyone that walked in the door about how AJ Trauth went throught the agency and look how far he gotten and they preceded to tell of all the famous people that have made it big through this agency.

Well we gave in after the lady said she was a christian and wouldnt lie to us that this was not a scam. This mad my parents finally give in and pay the big 1,000 deposit and the next payment would be another 1,500 later on for 10 weeks of modeling classes. I went the following monday to class and it was awful. I hated it!! i didnt feel excepted and was just getting yelled at the whole time by how i wasnt doing anything right!??!

Then the next week the guy that taught us from the week before wasnt the teacher any more and the reason was that he had to do something for Donald Trump in LA. The next week it was a different teacher again!! And the excuse was, "Oh, they had something big in La." I began to think this was getting wierd and this lady Olga started teaching the class and she wasnt even an acting teacher she was a modeling coach!! She would just sit there and listen to us do monolouges and say good, or do better, or project louder. Stupid stuff if you ask me!!

I wasnt getting any better and i was hating how the teachers were different every week and you had to introduce yourself each week to a new teacher!! I felt i was just being like baby-sat or watched, not being taught on my way to fame!! So the next week i called in and wanted my money back and they said okay we will try to give you a refund and their attitude totally changed! They didnt call back for weeks saying when the refund would be given back and so my mom and I stopped in because they wouldnt return our phone calls.

There was the young girl in their with amazing vocals and Olga said she was on her way to LA that weekend for American Idol:KIds Edition and it was going to air sometime later that year I asked the girl if it was true and she said yes, so i once agian believed maybe i was just thinking it was a scam and not giving it a try. Well was American Idol: Kids edition ever aired on tv?? i never saw it and i always watch tons of reality shows!! JRP is definitely a scam!! i have tried to get my money back for 2 years!! and they just always say well she still has like 7 classes left and i am like just give me my money back!! and they still wont!! i dotn know what to do!!

VEry Frustrated Teen.. DONT EVER DO JRP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!! THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU!! if they really wanted you they wouldnt make you pay they would pay for you!

Kendall,

I did not see anywhere in your comments that you were obligated to sign or give them any money, before giving yourself the time and opportunity to research the company, and the credentials of their instructors.

Do you really think fame comes in such a short period of time? Some actors work for years without ever getting an agent. JRP is a finishing school, not an agency. If you went to a college or university, would you expect to go for free. It's called tuition. I am not trying to blame you, as I feel that your parents should have been more involved.

Actors and models have to be trained, as with any profession.Once you have an agent and a manager they only get paid if you work, and you first have to be able to book a job, which means you have to know how to audition. If you paid the money, make them train you. My 5 yr-old daughter has done exactly that, After attending IMTA.She has a manager and an agent, and has been working for one year to reach the level she is at. She is still enrolled and attending classes. You were told about the lifetime program, which cost's $10,000. Which means you are serious about getting your money's worth. Ask them about going to IMTA in LA or NY,and see the cost of it and what you can get in return. A runway model has to be at least 5'9", for print 5'7". Do you fill those requirements???

Do the time, reap the rewards!! By the way, A.J. Trauth is from Las Vegas and did attend JRP there. You refer to JRP as an agency, it is not an agency it is a finishing school. Did they promise you anything? No, because there are no promises in this business. Expect nothing, give everything is what we were told. If you are tall enough and have the desire you can succeed, all it takes is money and determination.

Good Luck,

James
Las Vegas, Nevada

How is it this Company is still around with all of the SCAMS they are doing? They are breaking our kids hearts and screwing with there self-esteem. Something should be done to permantly shut them down. This is not right.
