Last year (May 11, 2006), I was having a hard time getting a car. I knew as a last resort I could go to one of those janky car dealerships that would finance anybody but I wanted work with a certified dealer. I saw a billbaord that said poopycredit.com so I figured I would check it out. After doing so I found that it was a certified new/used GM dealership.

I talked with a sales person (Rob Fernandez) first over the phone, then I met him at the dealership. It was an hour drive from where I live but I wanted to deal with (again) a certified dealer. He started telling me about this program that this specific dealership offers that helps you rebuild/establish your credit. First you get a "poopy" car. Their expectation is that you make all your monthly payments on time for one year. After doing that for a year, you get to bring your car back in and upgrade to a newer nicer car. You then have the option of paying that car off or again proving you credit worthyness for a year and then purchase a brand new vihicle.

Well, I thought that this was exactly what I needed. I asked how this was possible and my sales person said that they have their own inhouse finance ceter so it gives them more leway. So, I did it. I got a 2001 Grand Am. it had obviously been in an accident. The dash and some other things were super glued back together. I knew this and was okay with it. I told myself I just have to this for a year and then I'll be able to get a nice car.

When making the actual purchase the Joseph Pontiac employee told me they were going to set the purchase up as a 42 month lease so my payments would be low and afordable. Seeing how the car was worth very little. The J. P. employee told me they would call me in a year to remind me to bring the car in for the trade.

So a year went buy and I made every single payment on time. I received a call from my sales person a year later just like he said. He said he was now at the owosso dealership and I could bring it there and continue to work with him or go back to the Fenton dealership. I choose to go back to the Fenton dealership because of the location.

So, I call the dealership in Fenton on Monday June 30th, to tell them i would be there on Thursday to do the trade in. I started dealing with a new salesman as Rob was at a different dealership. He told me not to worry and he is "working for me".

So, I get there on Thursday just like I said and thats when they tell me. Rob Fernandez was scaming everybody. That he was fired and not allowed on their property. They were fully aware of this and said that he did this to other people.

They then said the only car they could get me in would be TrailBlazer and I couldn't even get one that was on the lot because "they already put money into them" and that I had to come up with $1000 down. They tried to do that to get rid of me until I said no problem.

They then said I could only get one on Monday because they had to get the SUV from an auction. They wanted to sell me the one from the auction before they even certified it. I told them that that I need a car because of gas prices and the insurance. I was told they can only do the TrailBlazer and that TrailBlazers get good gas mileage! HAHAHAHAHA

I then tried to talk to the manager who was completley condicending and even made snotty remarks about my credit score! I couldn't beleive it! He was talking to me as if I was being baligerant with him. I remained completley calm, except for the tears.

They refused to do anything. So, now I am stuck with a 42 month lease with monthly payments of $242 on a 2001 that is falling apart because they put it together with super glue!

To top it off they were fully aware of this. So, I am paying for their neglegance to manage their employee. This is what I got after going to a certified GM dealership!

Melanie, I side with you - I see old Joe Hood and his Hoolelums are at it again!!!

AUTHOR: Phil - (U.S.A.)

As a former Fenton Resident, Joseph Pontiac has been known for ripping its customers off. As a matter of fact I was a customer there once, and never again. The sales team is a bunch of criminals, and there service department sucks. I would file a small cliams case against them in the Fenton 67th district court to first recover some money, then file a civil lawsuit (You will need an attorney for this) in I believe Circuit Court in Genesee County. As far as I am concerned, Joe Hood (The Owner of Joseph) is a bum and slacker, just out there to rip off people. Good luck!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

AUTHOR: Concerned Ex Employee - (U.S.A.)

Upon reading this customers comments, I am distrubed and insulted. Joseph Pontiac has only ever tried to help people that have had credit issues. They have had many success stories and many thankful customers who turned their credit around. There is much more than just one of your many payments that go into re-building credit. There is only so much that a dealership can do to help somebody in that situation, other than get them a safe vehicle at a payment they can afford.

If that customer continues to not pay his or her bills, then they can't expect miracles to happen. In the case of this report, I wonder if the customer ever truly inspected the car she was buying or did her own research into the way a loan works. There is always interest on a loan, and anybody who has ever owned a vehicle realize that they do not go up in value, they only depreciate as time and miles accrue, I can imagine that there were quite a few miles put on the vehicle as she traveled from St. Louis. After only owning a vehicle for less than a third of the loan, she has to realize that she has paid little toward the principle of the loan and mostly just her interest. There will be negative equity involved. It is miracle that the dealership was able to get financing for her, considering shaky credit history and the negative equity she was sure to have. Maybe she should visit another sub-prime dealership and see how they treat her, or if they can even guarantee a loan for her.
