I recently moved and had some couches in excellent condition that had been hardly used (they were in our living room) and had slip covers on them so the fabric had never been even exposed to use. I spoke to one of the managers at joy's, a store just down the street from my home that I often frequent, and she asked to see a cushion from the couch. I brought in one of the main cushions and she approved it. She told me which days and times to bring the two couches in and I did according to the instructions I was given. That day, my husband took off of work and we brought in the first couch with all the cushions and the nine pillows too. Then one of the employees told us to get the second couch as well. We drove home again, loaded and then unloaded the second couch. At that time the employee went to the back, supposedly looked at the couches and came back with some pretty outrageous comments. First she tried to claim the couch had dis coloring. Obviously she did not know what a damask fabric was, because she claims to have never seen a fabric that had more than one color tone. Then she tried to claim I had a blue slipcover on it, but I had not. After I told her several time I had already brought in the cushion and was approved, she tried to call me a liar. How would I have known the window to bring in the couch? joy even pretended to not know she had a manager that worked for her. Then she offered me $100 dollars, split 50/50 and less there selling fee ( which one would think that was the 50 in 50/50. At that point i said, really, are you bargaining with me? My husband took off of work to bring thes couches and you are ripping us off? Joy then said" oh I'm just so dumb, I must be an idiot because I run this store?" Well obviously she's not an idiot because she has mastered the art of the "rip off. . Then I was told they would donate it for me to a non for profit that sells the furniture( although they can't) to get water for people in foreign countries. Well, I said, if I am going to donate my couches they should go to people in our country, In our state who can use the help. , they actually got huffy, like how dare I want to support those in need in my own state!! Well needless to say, I had my couches donates to a non for profit who helps homeless people set up home and start a new life in Colorado. The lesson I learned was skip joy's scam and donate to people in our state who can use the help, I suggest safe house Denver!!
