Does anyone know how to get in touch with Chris Westen from Birminham, AL?. I bought one of these Malamute pups from Chris in November 2012 & need to get in touch with him. 

The breeder has made good on all his promises. He even paid the vet bills. I owe Kevin and his wife an apology and would happily do business with them again. I trust them completely and actually feel that I have made a friend in spite of everything I posted here.

Kevin and Patti, I am deeply sorry and hope you can forgive me for acting prematurely.

I hope anyone reading this will realize that in business as in all relationships miscommunications occur. I hope that anyone reading this will feel comfortable doing business with the Schmersals.

Wife and I bought to wondeful Jack Russells from the Schmersals. It is distressing to hear this BS about them. Both times everything worked out wonderful. We've been to their house the first time and visited with many happy pups. Second time, we sent Kevin the money up front based on just a picture of the pup. Kevin and his wife delivered the pup on time at the exact and we have been thrilled with our babies. Wonderful dispostions and you can tell they are from great stock and were handled and treated wonderful before we got them. We have nothing but good things to say about our transactions with them and would buy from them again.

Maybe some of you keyboard warriors should think before you trash someone.

The Breeder's were as good as their word regarding the AKC papers. The papers arrived today and I have signed them do they can go out in the mail tomorrow.

As soon as she's registered in my name and the litter of beautiful pups is registered, I will post here right away with the update. Although we have a ways to go, it seems as though the breeders have really come a long way with regards to turning what I thought was a train wreck around.

I will post here as updates become available.

After the birth of 4 healthy pups, I would agree with the breeder that I may have over reacted. I hope to receive the AKC papers for the female soon, as he has promised to send them immediately.

It seems that cooler heads have (hopefully) prevailed. It looks like our original contract may be honored and to his credit since the female was paid for six weeks ago, several weeks after i posted my initial report, he did in fact agree to reduce the price of the male if the female wasn't pregnant. She was in fact pregnant, so I think the gesture speaks volumes about the breeder's willingness to negotiate.

I would like to publicly apologize for suggesting that he would lie about the female being pregnant. The information I had about due date was fuzzy and I overreacted.

Having said all of that we are both acting on Faith that this thing will come to quickly come to a successfull and amicable resolution. .

In spite of all the water under the bridge I do in fact have two wonderful dogs and we have obviously fallen in love with them.

I will post here with further updates and confirm receipt of the AKC papers and successfull registration of the litter once that occurs.

I have no interest in being a crusader here or elsewhere against these guys if the are going to be true to their word.

If the contract and agreement is honored by the breeder I will immediately post a full retraction here in fairness to the breeder.

The following are excerpts from an email that I received this morning from Chris Westen: 

"Based on the fact that I've got pups in my garage I have to admit that I made a mistake regarding her pregnancy. I couldn't be more excited, my little girls are the beyond happy. It's like something magical has happened and Santa, the Easter Bunny, and Tinker Bell are all sitting in my kitchen at the same time."

"I have already added an addendum to the report stating that you were honest about her having been bred and that we have pups on the ground."

"Cash is the neighborhood celebrity. Cars stop often with neighbors wanting to get to know him and take pics with him, most have never seen such a big dog and most agree that he and Taz are two of the most beautiful dogs they've ever seen. One day we had three cars parked in front of the house at once. A few are eagerly waiting to see if we'll have pups, although most know that I will most likely never get the AKC papers."   I would add here that all Chris has to do is stop being all emotional and pay for Cash as he agreed and he will get his papers. 


"I have already gotten a lot of bang for the buck with my daughters' priceless happiness and excitement so a worse case scenario isn't unbearable. Taz is  a sweetheart and Cash provides us with literally hours of comedy every day. He thinks he's a 150lbs puppy."

Does this sound like a man who has been "Ripped Off?" He acts emotionally instead of talking things through and makes emotional posts like the one he made here. I am in hopes that Chris can gather himself just long enough to make this right and we can conclude our business. 

The breeder's comments are not worthy of comment.

I do however, feel obligated to say that the female did in fact give birth tonight. So he was honest, at least, regarding her having been bred. I will update this as things either progress or fall further south although I'm not sure that's possible.

My little girls are ecstatic.

I sold this man two wonderful Alaskan Malamutes. I suggested that the female may be pregnant because I had seen a tie. I guess he took that to mean that as a guarantee.  I would further point out that both of these dogs were checked by a Vet prior to being shipped as is required by the airlines and both were found to be in excellent health, other they could not have been shipped. 

The man called me, all emotional and upset. Notice how he tries to counter that by saying how "calm" he was. Not so. He has issues. Nonetheless, I told him that if he would send the dogs back to me I would refund his purchase price. He refuses to do that. He even has one of my dogs that I sent to him that he hasn't paid a dime for.

The lesson is to never trust anyone who claims to "love the Lord," and signs all his emails with, "God Bless," until he flips out and makes crazy demands, then the Lord isn't part of his life.  Let everyone know that I never hesitated one moment to refund his purchase price if he would simply send the dogs back to me. I have been very fair to this man, but he is hell bent on being hateful and vindictive, so here we are. The choice is his. Send my dogs back and get a refund, or keep them and get nothing.
