knetbooks.com knetbook.com, knetbook, knetbook renter HOLDING INCORRECT BOOK HOSTAGE REGARDLESS OF EFFORTS TO PAY RETURN POSTAGE! Lexington, Kentucky

Used Knetbooks.com (just under $10 for my rental) and one other well-know company to rent texbooks for classess. Accidentally returned the wrong book to each company. The other company promptly notified me that the incorrect book was returned, charged $5.00 to return the incorrect book (understandably), and the book was received 3 days later.

Meanwhile, Knetbooks.com has taken over 4 weeks to log my return. Logged that I returned the correct book to them and are currently refusing to return the book that was sent to them unless I do one of two things: a.) return the book rented from them immediately (it is 11/3/2011 and my rental is not due to them until 12/23/11) or b.)buy the book I rented from them for 2.5 times the rental amount ($26.00), AND pay an additional $10.00 in shipping for the incorrect book to be returned (return shipping fee is justified). Otherwise, they are refusing to return the book to me. I have explained that the book I have rented from them is not due for almost 2 months and will be needed for another class in 2 weeks, but that has not made any difference.

 They insist that because they have no way to log that the wrong book was returned and that it just shows up as the correct book returned, I am out of luck. I was even told at one time that the problem would be fixed, my card charged the $10 return shipping fee and the book returned to me, only to receive an email 3 mnutes later that stated that they had misinformed me and that I would not receive the book back until their book was returned!!! So, they are holding the other book company's book hostage while I begin being charged late fees for not returning it. Had it been resolved in an organized manner like the other company handled it, there was sufficient time to avoid late fees, and for both companies to get their books back well before their due dates. NEVER will I make the mistake of using this company again!
