Kristin Woulfe,LLC Disgusted Parents St Paul Minnesota

My ex-husband and I met with Kristin in October of 2015. Our divorce had already been finalized in August of 2012, and had previously had a Custody Evaluator look over our case from September 2011, and we received her report at the end of December 2011. She drove from Milaca, MN to Crosslake, MN to talk with me on 3 separate occasions for 1 hour each time. Then came back to my home to visit with my kids for an hour. She also visited with my ex, the same amount of visits and traveled from Milaca, MN to Pequot Lakes, MN. She worked on our case for three months, always came to us, and her charges were $6000.00.

 When I had enough with my ex continuing to take me back to court, I asked to hire a new Custody Evaluator. I picked Mindy Mitnick, and then decided I needed to research her, came across a website regarding Mindy and one of my High School Class mates

I contacted my classmate to realize that Mindy, a Custody Evaluator would not listen to her, her children and made her decision based on the amount of money my friends ex paid Mindy. At that time, I switched my Evaluator to Kristin Woulfe. She asked for $2000.00 retainer from me and my ex, then gave us her contract, and expressed that our meetings would always take place in her office, unless it is a home visit, and that we would be charged for travel time.

In Kristin’s contract, it states that once our retainer was down to $1000.00, we would receive an invoiced to pay her more money. In the first meeting I had with Kristin, I was also there with my ex. and asked if the $4000.00 that my ex and I had given her would be the total cost. She said “probably not, unless you don’t have a lot of paperwork”. My ex and I both thought it could not be more than $6000.00, because Kristin already had the recommendation from our first evaluator, and that typical honest Evaluator would say the charges would range from $5000.00-$7000.00 Well we were so wrong. Our first invoice from Kristin did not come until the end of February, almost 5 months into our eval. The bill was for $4800.00. I was stunned; I even contacted my Lawyer and said I am DONE! He said if you do that, then she would choose your ex for raising you kids. My lawyer continued to say that he went into the wrong profession, which was funny to hear that my Ex’s lawyer said the exact same thing.

I asked Kristin, if this bill is to be split between my ex and me, “Kristin said NO, you both owe me $4800.00, and that will cover my final services. Then in April, I get another bill for over $2000.00, and Kristin said that she would not give us her recommendation until we both pay her in full. Finally, the last week of June 2015, she gave her recommendation, and did not do anything different from the previous Evaluator other than changing a Sunday to a Wednesday. My ex and I gave her around $20,000.00, with nothing changing and had to go through the process of emotions and stress for over 8 months.  

I feel completely disgusted that someone who is supposed to protect children stole money from my children. The only good thing that came out of this situation is that my ex and I are best friends, and the fight now, is to protect parents and children, so they are not taken advantage of the way we did.
