L.A. Tan LA TAN black mailing customers Fox River Grove, Illinois
*Consumer Suggestion: Forget the BBB, just do this
Received a letter in the mail today from LA Tan, a company which I have not used for three years. The letter tells me that I have a past due balance that needs to be addressed. But, as a VIP member, if I come in and resign a contract with them, all is forgiven. If not, they are sending me to collections. The letter goes on to tell me that if I go to their Lake Zurich location by Jan. 1, 2011 and pay the past due balance, they will give me a free tan. I have sent an email to their office and will be contacting the BBB.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Forget the BBB, just do this
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

First of all, forget the BBB! They are an absolutely useless and corrupt organization who has absolutely no power at all to do anything for you.
FYI..."Black mailing" is 1 word. "Blackmailing". Totally different meaning.
The only question here is whether or not you had a legal binding contract with them that you did not satisfy. That is the only valid issue here.
Do you have a contractual obligation with them?
If so, it was you that engaged in the "rip off" here. If not, just tell them to put you in collections so you can sue them.
This is black and white. One way or the other.
