The following is an email exchange between myself and Michael Jensen who is the Internet Manager at Larry H Miller Chevrolet in Murray, Utah. In made an inquiry about a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban this dealership has on their website.  The price for this vehicle is listed as $20,998.   I put this out for you to decide for yourself if this is the type of customer service you would expect from a dealership.  I have redacted the email addresses at the request of RipOffReport.com.

So I fill out the application and in the remarks section I mention that I do not authorize my credit to be pulled unless there is a deal in place and I made what I thought was a fair offer of $19,000 take it or leave it.   I then email Mr. Jensen .

You're gonna have to go through Prestige.  When they squawk about the repo, remind them of two things:   1.  I tried to work it out with Prestige before I left for overseas and was told "NO" at every turn.   2.  I tried to negotiate a settlement with Prestige to pay off the loan in exchange for removing the repo and was again told "NO".   So make sure to remind them of all of this.     Thank you

Michael,
Are you kidding me. Take it or leave it? We will definitely leave it. Take  All  of the Miller Group Companies off your vehicle list. I will forward your information to our management company to insure that no one else in our group wastes their time. There are plenty of customers in the world that are greatfully for outstanding customer service. Good luck.

The Miller Group, which by the way is LHM, is at the top of the list for name, reputation, and business practices. As for your name, reputation, and business practices, well your track record speaks for itself. We respectfully decline the "opportunity", or should I say "misfortune", of doing business with you.

Thank you and good luck.

I did not reply to the email and as of the writing of this letter there has been no further contact between myself and Mr. Jensen.

So there it is.  I have not omitted anything nor changed anything.  It's all there.  So again I ask, is this good custoner service or am I being out of line?
Thank you.

The offer was not OUT THE DOOR.  If it were then yes, that would have been ridiculous.

I am of the impression that the responders here either got screwed at a dealership or  work at a dealerhship.

Edmonds, Kelley Blue Book and all the other online price guides are just that, GUIDES,  nothing more. Each and every used vehicle has its own set of circumstances regarding how much the selling price is. If you want to swear by them call Edmonds and see if they'll bring you the vehicle for $19,000!!!!!!

I put this out without any embellisment or boring, long, meaningless stories like "'well I had to spend 8 hours at the dealership, took the day off from work, hired a babysitter..."  blah blah blah.  All of which means nothing.  I gave you the story period.

However, I would like you all to go to a couple of websites:  http://www.edmunds.com/ and http://www.carbuyingtips.com/car4.htm

After thoughly reading these websites and using the tools therein you will see where I got my information with regards to price and why I said to not pull my credit unless there is a deal in place.

I didn't want to do all that.  I just wanted to make this short and sweet.  But obviously you all need some more information.  So start researching.

Thank you

Your answer...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 18, 2009

You offered them $19K on a $21K(not $20K) truck.  You told them to "take it or leave it".  It also appears that you wanted to get it with no money down.

In conjunction with this you did not want them to run your credit until there was a deal in place.  Well first no dealer is going to make a deal especially on no-money down until they know your credit history.  You also had a Repossession on your report.  To explain the reason of the repossession was because the other company didn't work with you.  Well if you gave that company the same "take it or leave it" attitude. The dealer could probably see you a problem customer.  Hence you received an equally firm reply in that you were waisting their time.

So in answer to you question.  They were as rude as you were unreasonable.

Crazy offer.

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 18, 2009

I don't normally side with auto dealers but your offer was crazy.

What makes you think ANYONE would finance you for $19,000, with NO MONEY DOWN, and with a REPOSSESSION in your credit reports?

You wasted their time.  You received an appropriate curt reply to your rediculous offer.

Nowhere did I mention I was ripped off.  I was asking if the dealership was being rude.  That's all.  And the amount I offered was fair.  Edmunds.com lists that same vehicle for 18K.  The dealership wanted 20K.  I split the difference and offered 19K.

Then 'Google' this- RIP OFF REPORT LARRY MILLER TOYOTA SHOWS NO SIGN OF RESPECT, and read how "forgery" was mentioned by the woman who submitted that Ripoff Report. I believe her name was Carol, of Glendale Arizona. The dealership is owned by Larry Miller.
