A customer representative from Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay called me this morning at my job stating that I owe Hurley Bank $500. They state that I opened a checking account in 1996- 1998, and the funny thing is that I have never heard of this bank. What annoys me is that they have my work number, and I am afraid that they are going to call me at work and disrutp my day, and what surprised me and scared me the most was that they have my home address and the last 4 digits of my social!
I faxed them a letter and stated that I have never opened a checking account with this bank, and also that

I recall my citizenship document being stolen around that time and could be that who ever stoled this document used the information to opened the account.
Afterwards, I searched the web and found that this law firm is calling people and harrazing them with very old debts. Check this website: http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-257409.html

I read the following on this website: "All you have to do is get in contact with the FTC ( Federal Trade Commission) in New York. The number is 212-607-2829. I gave them all the information that was on the letter that I received. They said if they get enough calls they will do a investigation. I talk to the "so call" Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay,P.C. they just gave me the run around. DO NOT VERIFY YOUR SSN OR DATE OF BIRTH. I have been a victim of fraud before and that is all the information that they need to get you. Send them a certified letter that you do not owe the debt and send it with a return receipt. Their address is:
Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay,P.C.
7 Penn Plaza
New York, NY 1001-3995

If you have already been a victim of this letter, go to your local police department and fill a report and also inform all three credit agencies of fraud.
Good luck to you all who receive these letters.

Also if you want to contact the "so call" Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay the number that I have is 1-800-859-2974 or 1-800-247-4720. AGAIN DO NOT VERIFY YOU SSN OR DOB.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK ANY COMPANY SAYING THAT THEY ARE COLLECTING. Contact the original company first to verify the information and who they sent the debt to.

It's true that the law office gives you the run around because it happened to me.

I have been a victim of this "collections agency" as well.

AUTHOR: Rob583 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 28, 2008

These people have been tracking me down. They sent me collections letters for different balances, all claiming to be from Wells Fargo. They sent me letters while I was stationed in Germany, Texas, and in school in Philadelphia. the final straw was when they called my parents, and they gave me a concerned call asking if I was in debt. I was thoroughly embarrassed.

I did a credit check with Experien. There were no debts on there that I wasn't aware of already. I then called Wells Fargo, who referred me to their debt collections departments for both credit lines and bank accounts. They told me that my accounts had been closed in good standing back in 2002, just like I originally thought. My credit line was still open with no balance until that call, when I closed it in good standing.

After calling Mitchell N. Kay, I gave them my new address only, and told them to send me a letter stating exactly what they wanted so I could get some form of evidence of this scam. They just called me this evening again, giving me the 7 Penn Plaza address, but hanging up on me when I asked for a suite number. They're actually hanging up on me.

Here is the contact information they gave me:
866-355-9587
7 Penn Plaza
New York City, NY, 1001 or 10001.

I am contacting the FTC like you advised, filling out a complete report, and following up with the credit agencies. I will file a police report as soon as I'm home just to get some kind of documentation on the matter. I know they can't do much, but the documentation always helps if you're forced to go to court over it. What these people have done to me is nothing short of harassment, and it's a scam.
