This might be petty to some but it's a serious problem for me. I'm diabetic. Plain and simple.

I had my 17 month old son in the car with me one day and I was exhausted because I had NO sleep. I went through the MacDonald's drive-thru and ordered him some pancakes with NO syrup, and me a LARGE cup of coffee (I know BAD....). I made sure to clarify that I wanted extra SPLENDA and even made her repeat it back to me since their screen did NOT work at that time. I pull up to the window. She doesn't seem to even notice me watching her. She goes to use the splenda and it's empty. She says something to somebody, shrugs her shoulders and I kid you not, she dumps about 1/4 of the REGULAR sugar into my cup. My jaw hit the floor. She opens the window and smiles. I tell her I can't drink that coffee and she asks me why. I told her what I saw and that if I drank that cup that I'd be in an ambulance to the hospital because I'm diabetic. She then starts to ring me up ANOTHER cup of coffee. So now I'm supposed to pay for ANOTHER cup because SHE goofed. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was ringing up another cup. I told her there was no way in He!! I was paying for her mistake and asked to speak to her manager. The manager started to say the same thing...that is until I informed him of the situation. He turned beet red. Made me another cup of coffee, made her run to get more splenda and handed it to me. Apologies and all.

WATCH them when they prepare your food. ESPECIALLY if you're like me with food restrictions.

I actually carry Splenda with me now. I carry several packets in my purse for such an occasion.

This isn't the first time I've caught them pulling a stunt like this. One time I watched another MacDonald's fish pies out of the trash for someone. I don't eat redmeat or pork of any kind, so a trip to Macdonald's is rare for us, I just needed coffee and my son was hungry.

But when she tried to charge me for a SECOND cup to fix HER mistake I almost flipped.

Obviously you cannot trust McDonald's employees to do the right thing, as evidenced by your report and many others on this site.

I am curious, however, why -- as a diabetic -- you do not request your coffee PLAIN with Splenda packets provided on the side? Regardless of where you order your coffee, this way you will be 100% sure of what type of sweetener is going into your beverage.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Simple

Order your coffee black and request several packets of splenda and put it in YOURSELF. I think someone else posted something about that subject also. Their point was mcdonald's is doing away with sugar and switching to corn starch or something like that and some people are allergic to corn products. Corn sweetner is a few cents cheaper then "real" sugar. Seems macdonald's asks how you want your coffee and IF you say "cream and sugar", they shoot some corn sweetner and some dairy byproduct in it. So your coffee has neither one in it, but it's "sweet and light". I remember she blasted me cause I mentioned something about putting SIX packets of sugar in a small cup of coffee. A little coffee with her sugar?
