Mailbox Media Major Scam from Mailbox Media---DON'T Give Them ANY Money! Glendale Arizona

Two young African American men in their 20s knocked on my door at 7:30 on a Saturday night. They were well dressed and polite. I asked them what they were selling and they told me: "Oh, we're not selling anything ma'am; we are working to keep youth like us off the streets and help get educational books to underpriveledged children."

It was raining outside and so I invited them in. I listened to both of their personal stories of gang violence, loss, and street crimes. The older youth, Zaire, was mentoring the younger, Dominic. Zaire said that they really needed $360.00 to meet their quota for books that would be sent to the charititable organization of my choice. I told him that I did not have that kind of money but might be able to do something about half that because I really wanted to help.

For $180.00, Zaire told me that a Sesame Street book would be sent every month to the Battered Women's Shelter for one year. I gave him cash and seeing the $200 cash, he mentioned that I could give them a tip, so I said keep the change. 

What a silly moron to have fallen prey to this incredible scam that appeals to the sentiments of empathic people. Further, around the Christmas giving season, this is a real ploy to take advantage of folks' generosity!

Instead of going online to verify the scam while they were in my living room, I trusted their stories. I even poured them a glass of wine as they said it was their last house for the evening! Our friends were waiting on us to go to dinner, so I escorted them out. It was not until the following day that I verified that I had been SCAMMED! The address on the receipt for Mailbox Media is a UPS Store in Glemdale, AZ! I can only hope that a Battered Women's Shelter somewhere in Austin, TX will receive some Sesame Street books out of this!
