Maria Lorfice BEWARE OF THE MARANA HORSE SCAMMER!! marana Arizona
I recently became aware of a scamming, horse trader in marana, Arizona. I have done my home work and want to warn folks of her shady business practices. She runs ads on Craig's list looking for "unwanted horses". She collects free horses, by pretending to be a rescue or telling the owner's it will be a "forever" home and the horse will be for her kids. But those are lies , the horses are for sale on Craig's List the next day. She advertises every horse she sells as "dead broke", "kid safe", etc. We made an appointment to look at a horse, arrived early and watched from down the road. She rides the horses hard for hours before potential buyers come to look at them. The horse are too tired to be anything but good. This hides their bad habits and flaws. She does not disclose where the horse comes from or how long it's been in her possesion. When we vistited the place, it was a mess, garbage everywhere, small, unsafe pens, no shade, a real dump. The horse were all thin and she claimed they came that way and she was bringing them back to health. She had 15 horses and 4 bales of brown, grass hay. Since the hay she had in my eyes wasnt enough to feed that day, we went and checked the next day to see if she had bought feed like she said she was on her way to do. We could see from the road only ONE bale was gone!! 1 bale+15 horses= horses slowly starving. We imagine she tries to sell horses as fast as possible because the longer they sit, the skinnier they become, making them harder to sell.
We replied to a few of her ads for a kid safe , family horses. We asked her if she was a horse trader, she said No, all the horses she had for sale were her personal horses and she was just cutting back. She also claimed to have owned them for years. We know that everything she told us was a lie because we had been investigating her for a while then.
We also ran an ad on Craig's List asking if people had similar experiences. We spoke with several people who had dealt with her and each person had a similar story. The horse was entirely different and not what it was advertised to be. One person's grandchild was seriously injured. The horse was sent to auction.
She obtains horses by taking advantage of people and lying about who she is and what she wants the free horse for. People can no longer care for their horse, they think they are giving it to a good home, not a horse trader. This place and places like it need to be shut down.
