McCarthy, Burgess & Wolfe Constant harrassing phone calls, incredibly rude and condescending Bedford Heights Ohio

I started receiving harrassing phone calls from this firm in April of 2008. The rep, Mark B, was incredibly rude and obnoxious. Would not give me any information on how I could satisfy the debt with the company I owed the debt to. Questioned how I could be "taking a vacation while I owed this debt" when he called my voice mail while I was out of town. I made the mistake of making a payment over the phone with my credit card before confirming with the company I owed the money to.

A month later I received a voice mail from Mr. Blackwell telling me he was going to "pay the remainder of my debt on the credit card number I supplied him previously". When I called to complain and to tell him I DID NOT authorize him to do this, he began to harrass me over the phone. Said that I was the "type of person that didn't pay my debts" and that "he could understand why my business wasnt doing well".

VERY rude and condescending.
I told him that I would pay the company direct that I owed the money to, (Ameritech Yellow pages) all they had to do was send me an invoice. He indicated that this would not do, that I HAD to pay him. AT NO POINT did he explain to me that McCarthy, Burgess & Wolfe had PURCHASED THIS DEBT from Ameritech Yellow Pages.

I began receiving letters at my home address, very threatening and rude. After receiving a letter on 7/3/2008, I responded by sending a letter to McCarthy, Burgess & Wolfe indicating that I was going to send payment to Ameritech directly because I owed the money to them, NOT to McCarthy, Burgess & Wolfe.

I received a very threatening voice mail to my work on 7/7/2008 even though I told Mr. B several times to NOT contact me at my office number. He again reiterated that I was to pay them, NOT Ameritech. I contacted him by phone, and he threatened me with promises of my credit standing being ruined, that I was going to be paying 28% interest rates on my credit cards, and that unless I paid this debt I was going to be taken to small claims court and I would be responsible for all court costs.

I requested a call from a supervisor which I did receive that morning. Not only was the supervisor even more beligerent, he went so far as to say that the only respect they have was for "the checkbook", when I asked to be treated with a little respect.

I have sent a Validation of debt request letter on 7/7/2008 via certified mail. I have also requested that the phone calls to my business number stop immediately.
