I booked 5 bus tickets for my children from Nashville to Chicago to Detroit leaving on 7/5/2014 at 8:30 p.m. supposedly arriving in Chicago, IL at 5:35 a.m.  And the next bus heading to Detroit left at 6:15 a.m.  The bus leaving from Nashville was two hours late arriving in Chicago, causing my children to miss the 6:15 a.m. bus going to Detroit this morning, 7/6/2014.  I called Megabus regarding the situation and was told that there was nothing that they could do and the very next bus that they could take was leaving at 6:15 a.m. the next morning (Monday morning). 

My daughter just started a new job and could not miss work, that's why we booked the initial schedule to get them to Detroit on Sunday.  After being told such, and panicking, I booked that schedule.  I then found out a few minutes later that there were two other buses leaving that day from Chicago going to East Lansing , MI (which is 70 miles from Detroit).  I called back to see if I could have those tickets changed and was told that they could not help me, I had to buy new tickets.

I was crying and in total disarray because my children are stranded and Megabus did not care! The representatives were heartless and unaccommodating to the customers who spend their money for a service.  I was hung up on twice and was told that no one else could help me.  I had to spend my rent money to book 5 more tickets totaling $196 for them to leave from Chicago this morning on the 8:30 a.m. bus heading to East Lansing, MI.  And then had to pay another $70 for them to get home from Lansing. 

According to their representatives, the terms and conditions state that we should book two hours apart in scheduling and I did not want my children in a strange city for two hours standing outside with luggage, that's why I booked the way that I did.  I choose Megabus over Greyhound because the buses are much nicer and the prices (some) are lower, but Greyhound would never treat its customers like this!

I do not understand how Megabus can treat paying customers like this and stay in business! Behavior like this need to be publicized!  Please help me! 

Megabus’ terms and conditions related to me below complaint/inquiry, and according to them, this was not done.  I had to purchase more 5 more tickets and my children still will not arrive at their initially scheduled destination.  They will be arriving in East Lansing, MI  on 7/6/2014 at 2:40 p.m. which is 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Detroit, MI.  This is totally unacceptable. This company's behavior needs to be publicized and this company needs to be shut down!

Megabus Terms and Conditions:

megabus.com offers approved connections and will guarantee customer's travel to their final destinations. These approved connections are available for sale on the megabus.com website and will only require one search and one reservation for travel. megabus.com does not guarantee connections non-approved routes reservations where multiple reservations are needed to travel to the final destination. If passengers decide to make a non-approved connection, then we require that you allow two hours in between trips to account for any delays that may be experienced.

What is stated at the bottom of your post-

Megabus Terms and Conditions:

 

megabus.com offers approved connections and WILL GUARANTEE customer's travel to their FINAL destinations. These approved connections are available for sale on the megabus.com website and will only require one search and one reservation for travel.

 

 

megabus.com does NOT guarantee connections non-approved routes reservations where MULTIPLE reservations ARE NEEDED to travel to the FINAL destination.

 

 

IF passengers decide to make a non-approved connection, then we require that you allow two hours in between trips to account for any delays that may be experienced.

 

 

Yes  to change a ticket reservation you have to do it online only, and 24 hours before departure.

 

For future use-plan on megabus being late. Either picking you up late or late to your final destination-works just like amtrak but looks nicer :)

 

 

I have taken megabus many times before and have not had any issues.
