In August, I received a telemarketing phone call from a representative from Miller Plante Inc., urging me to try their septic system product for 30 days free, with no obligation to pay for/keep their product if I was unhappy with it. I agreed and gave them my mailing information. Later, I decided that I did not want the product shipped to me, and called to cancel the order. They told me that it had been sent out the morning before I called, but that I could speak with a person named Bill, when the product arrived. They told me that I would be able to send the product back, and that Bill would give me instructions on how to do so.
Before the product arrived, I received an invoice, stating that I would owe $51.23 after 30 days of receipt of the product. When the product arrived shortly after, I did not open it. I called Miller-Plante at the following #(800)929-2722, and spoke with "Bill" in Returns. I told him the situation, but he did not seem to take my request seriously, and offered to discount the initial price of the product if I decided to keep it. I told him no, but again, he did not agree to my request to send the product back. I became very frustrated at the situation, as I had to explain, over and over again, that I did not want the product, and felt that I should send it back, free of charge, as it had been insisted in the initial sales pitch. After a lengthy debate, I was able to obtain the shipping information, and said that I would pay for the shipping charges. I ended the conversation and hung up.
I sent the product back to the warehouse in New Jersey, even though the company was located in Maitland, FL. I even tracked the product using the USPS delivery confirmation system. Though the product reached the warehouse, several weeks later at the end of September, I received an invoice stating that I owed the first payment of $51.24. When I called Miller-Plante at (407)875-3131, the person I spoke with transferred me to Bill, whom I spoke with before, and he said that the returned product was not received, even though I knew that it had. Despite my complaint, he did nothing to assure me that I did not have to make a payment. I became very angry with his lack of concern, and he simply said "Have a nice day, goodbye" to end the conversation.
