On January 31, 2005...I purchased a pair of brand new Miracle Ear Hearing Aids for my wife. She told the sales rep. that she heard sounds like crickets chirping in both ears and that this noise drowned out every thing else. He told us that with a pair of hearing aids her ability to hear would come back and the noises she heard would go away.

We paid Carmen $2,000 and the units were delivered to us on 2-11- 2005. On 2-16- 2005 we took them back as her hearing was not better and the aids were hurting her ears. On 2-22-05 we got them again.

We made trips to the Florida Mall location on 3 more occassions complaining about the chirping sound still being there and was told you must continue to wear the hearing aids and her hearing would come back the noises she heard would leave.

That never happened. Carmen would always convince us to keep the aids each time we went to talk with him as he told us he could continue the warranty for as long as he wanted.

We phoned the company to set up a time to return the aids and was told he was to busy to see us and kept putting us off. Then finally on November 11, 2005 we stopped in to the Ocoee Sears store to return the hearing instruments. Carmen said that in his opinion we had kept the units to long so he could not give us a refund. But did say that they would remake the hearing aids using a much better product as what we had recieved were cheaply made. I got angry and asked him why in the H**L they were not made with the better product the first time around and it would have saved us and him time not counting the trips we made to both locations. This time around he had no answer. The way me and my wife see it, is there is No "Miracle" in a Miracle-Ear Hearing Aid. Think twice before getting a product from this company.

I did contact the corporate offices of Miracle-Ear in Plymouth, Mn. and Robert Hessian, the Consumer Affairs Coordinator (1-800-241-1372) said he would have an official of the local hearing center to call me with in a week which came and went and I called again and he said they will call you, To date no phone call came but finally I did get a letter from a Robyn Ellsworth, Vice-President saying no way were we to get a refund. I am sure she does not have the full story of what has happened to us during our visits and calls to her hearing centers. And from her actions she probably dosen't care. That's the type of company that we all need to stay away from. There should always be some concern for the consumer. After all if it wasn't for us there would be no reason for her and others to be in business.

The report fits my experience in part.  In actual fact, I have come to the conclusion that ALL hearing aids are poorly made and require the level of maintenance of a space ship.

I bought my 'Miracle Ear' hearing aids in March, 2012.  I have had to go back to the outlet 10 miles from my home repeatedly because (1) the hearing aid stopped functioning and had to be be returned to the factory and replaced (twice), (2) electronic/computer settings required constant adjusting,
and (3) I misled about the product.

When purchasing the hearing aids, I was told they were water proofed.  The audiologist/technician was fired and the new person explained that only the highest priced model is water proof (another $1,500(??) and doers not use rechargeable batteries.

These hearing aids have a tendency to corrode in humid and tropical climates.

Is there anything better out there?  I doubt it.  As near as I can determine, all hearing aids sold in the US are cheap, poorly made European imports.  Good value for the money it is NOT.
