We've signed to live in the Elm-wood Terrace back in July of that year 2012. Me and my wife met with the leasing associate Tessa at that time, and she told us that we need to wait for a month until the available unit will be ready for living. We had to live outside in a Hotel and store our belongings in a public storage plus dinning outside everyday for a whole month until we moved in Aug 27, 2012, and we could not believe the unit was terrible, dust and paint everywhere, carpet was not clean and full of construction debris, plus the remnants of the pets which used to live in that unit was still existed.
I had to rent a rug doctor carpet power-wash to clean out that carpet in the first and second floors because all of us were itching for a whole week because of the desalinization of the carpet, then we found that most of the flooring is uneven when stepping on it, laminated flooring in the kitchen has so many gaps in between, the counter top of the kitchen (2 pieces were not coming leveled with each other), paints all over the carpet, dusty and dirty windows all over, no vent for the stove(they took out as worker/ Tom told me it's a trade-in!), dishwasher was not functioning properly and every time the pots and dishes coming out of it were still dirty, all bi-folding doors upstairs and downstairs are not opening and closing properly and easily, the false ceiling of the laundry was missing and the metal holder on the corner was falling down which preventing from opening the cabinet door!, the frame of the backdoor was broken etc...
I submitted all that to the property manager after a week from my moving because I was settling down my furniture and putting the blinds, cleaning and fixing as much as I can so i can make the place decent for living. I gave my complaint to the property manager Jan who told me that she will send her workers to fix all things. I kept waiting for days until I had to call again for reminding them although the policy says that they should respond within 24 hrs. The worker finally came, and he came with a mode that he does not want to do anything, and he cannot do this and cannot do that because he does not have the authority. I told him "talk to whoever has the authority so we can go from there".
I did so many service call, and a few were only fixed and done while the rest are still pending, until today I asked the property manager Jan to come with her worker Tom and see by herself the problems and the bad condition of their rental property, and she was very inconsiderate, rude, interrupting my speech every time I am mentioning a defective thing in the unit, until rudely when I was showing her the condition of the roof, she said that she wants to go back to her office with her worker to discuss something!!!, and she left without telling me anything about the outcomes or any action plan to be implemented.
Just so you know, we do have lovely 3 children, and they don't deserve to live in that inhuman conditions, plus they charged us an extra $50.00 more than anyone lives in the same unit with same size, because the are claiming that they renewed the kitchen which is not true at all, and on the top of that, they have the audacity to overcharge us every month for the rent and they want us to live and keep ourselves and our children in that situation without any question!!!
