Do not fall for the high pressure tactics used by National American University recruiters that can cost you tens of thousands in extra tuition fees. Be especially wary of the recruiters who offer to walk you through step-by-step. They don't want to give you time to think or compare. If you are smart enough to be looking at an online college, then be smart enough to demand the information on paper so that you can compare each school's actual bottom line.

For example: The tuition for a 4 year degree at Rapid City, SD based NAU was between $42,000 and $44,000 over a year ago when I left. The tuition at nearby Black Hills University (a State College) is estimated at $23,212. Even if you are looking at an online degree program, please be smart enough to look at your local State Colleges. Almost everyone has jumped onto the online bandwagon and so have most State Universities. Do yourself a favor by not signing with NAU and keep all that extra money for yourself.

Why am I telling you this. I not only graduated from NAU but I also worked for them in Online Campus Recruiting. I fell on their stairs at work and hit my head on the pipe rail suffering two ruptured disks in my neck and Post Traumatic Concussive Disorder which will keep me from ever working again. NAU is doing everything possible to weasel out of paying for my medical treatment. They even went so far as to segregate me from my fellow workers by cutting off my access to the employee e-mail group.

This part should scare anyone not running away yet. My Second Degree was in Management Information Systems (computers) and I graduated Magna c*m Laude from NAU. While working there I requested a transfer to the computer department. I was sick of the pressure that managemnt puts on the recruiters. They gave the job to some kid with only and Associates Degree from a Technical Institute. This very clearly demonstrates what NAU thinks of it's own degree programs.

Buyer Beware! The tuition's bottom line should be your deciding factor. Nearly all employers are just interested in the fact that you finished college and not the name of the school (we're not talking about Ivy League Schools here). Do Not be pressured into signing with NAU when you can get the same or better education for about half the cost elsewhere.

National American University Graduate 2008

AUTHOR: Sarahe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 30, 2008

I am a graduate of National American University. While it is true that NAU is more expensive than State Colleges, they offer many more options. NAU offered me a Bachelors Degree in Accounting while taking classes at night. When I graduated with an associates degree from a community college I was told by the largest state school in the area (UNM) that I would not be able to receive my degree taking strictly night classes. Not only was I able to get a Bachelors Degree in a timely fashion but my accounting instructors were extremely challenging and well worth the money. I now have all of the requirements to sit for the CPA exam and more importantly NAU prepared me for this challenging step. I would recommend the school to anyone.

Can you put a price on education?

AUTHOR: Rockstar - (U.S.A.)

Can you really sit there and dog a school because you got hurt there? Have you looked at the prices of eduation these days? I agree, for South Dakota, that might be high, but the Colorado, Minnesota and Kansas City Campus are right in line. I work in education and see this all the time. Most people complain about the calling when they requested information with their contact information! Good Luck!
