When Hurricane Irma came through our area in central Florida in September, there were also reports of tornadic activity in my neighborhood.  As the brunt of it passed during the night, many large trees in the area were torn from the ground with extensive debris scattering.

My coach was tucked in next to the house and the only damage it recieved was a one inch punture in the roof, next to the front a/c unit.  This was repaired when it was noted a couple of days later with construction grade material, and has prevented any further entry of water.

A month later, I went up on the roof to check a problem with the rear a/c unit and noted that the roof directly in front of the rear a/c was soft.  Then few weeks later while he was working on damage to the house roof, a friend noticed that the coach roof over the soft area was now bubbling up.  This is when I reported the claim to National General.

An inspector from the company came out, stood on ladder and took some pictures of the roof, and nothing more.  A week later I was informed that they would pay for the hole to be repaired, but not the water damage.  Their rationale was the creation of the hole was accidental and acute, but the water damage was a slow leaking process and therefore not covered.  They went on to say that the area of softness near the rear a/c is not conducive with the hole near the front a/c.

When I explained to them how water does travel to the lowest spot, and if the coach is not perfectly level, that water from the torrential rains we received will and did travel to the lowest area.  They disregarded this arguement and repeated their assessment and denial.

To the bubbling of the hard shell roof, I can only assume that the extreme heat of a Florida summer caused that trapped water to expand and vaporize, causing the increased pressure to push the roof up.  They contend that this bubbling of the roof is wear and tear damage.

How can one contend that the acute damage, the hole, be covered as an accidental mishap, but then say the water which the hole allowed to acutely enter is not covered.
