In Spring of 2010, I purchased a photography package that was being promoted at my local Sam's Club.  The promotion was $24 for a 12x16 family portrait.  If I paid in full all at once, I would also get 16 wallet photos as well.  I was pregnant at the time and wanted a family portrait after my daugher was born, and I was assured they would be returning to the area several times so I could sit for the photography session at a later date.

I returned many times (almost weekly), and the studio was never there.  The manager at Sam's Club had no recollection of this offer that was promoted in his store.  After several calls to the National Studios corporate office, I was informed that the schedule of portrait locations varies from week to week and to keep checking back.  I finally spoke with someone in November 2011 that said the La Crosse, WI area "wasn't even on the radar" anytime soon as suggested that I reach out to Tom Kopp for a refund.

I sent a certified letter to Tom Kopp in November that I expected a refund within 4-6 weeks as this looks more like a scam than a legitimate business.  I followed up with several calls only to get his voicemail every time with no return call after I left messages.

After getting his voicemail once again on January 5, I called back to talk to someone in customer service.  Tom was actually the person to pick up the phone!  I explained why I was calling, and he put me on hold to "check with his accounting department on the status of my refund."  He confirmed my address and the amount expected and said it was sent the previous week.  He actually suggested that I call him back if I didn't receive it in the next 3 days!

It is now January 25 with no sign of the check.  Once again, I left a message in Tom's voicemail.  Based on the number of complaints on the internet about this company, I expect to get the same runaround and no resolution as many other unsatisfied "customers."  I am surprised this company is still in business.  I will be registering complains with the BBB and any other sources I can find to warn others about this scam.
