Nuvell...a joke of a company.

Nuvell...a joke of a business.

Back last year, my mother-in-law had given me her car since she was going to a nursing home and I agreed to make her payments for her. I did until in got a couple of months behind (being that February is a short month and my taxes were due)...so along comes the bully-boy collector call.

This jackass would not even say his name, and I explained that my mother-in-law was being admitted to a nursing home and this same b*****d had the audacity to say "we'll check her assets and get the money." I told him to go ahead and I'd sue him and his lowlife company if they did.

Two days later I got a call back from this same j*****f who said "we know about her retirement check. We know about her social security funds. Give us her money." I brought my wife in on the call and she said to this sleazeball that we were seeking legal action against Nuvell for threatening to take money that was not entitled to them. Then this jackass laughs and starts blowing smoke..."we'll garnish your husband's wages as we verified his employment" (this man did not even have my name or where I worked) and "we'll sue you in court. You better have a good attorney." I then told this joker to go screw himself and he thought he was Mr Comedian of the Year by saying "at least I can afford my car payments." as I hung up on him.

I called back the next day and asked to speak to a supervisor about their collection tactics. No result. All he cared about was the past-due money owed. After 30 minutes of nothing but collections bullshit, I said to that I'll just leave the car in their parking lot. That I did...and I got my revenge. I slashed all four tires, kicked in the headlights and tail lights, even drained the oil and gas. So what were they going to do now?

Whatever YOU do, do NOT answer any calls from Nuvell in Jacksonville, Florida. Unprofessional, demeaning, arrogant assholes...lower than bee spit.

Nuvell is Unreliable

AUTHOR: Alicia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 13, 2009

I have read all of the postings from employees to car dealers and I must say that I am the first to admit when I am wrong but Nuvell's practices are nasty. I pay my loan online on the due date and within 2 days my phone starts ringing off the hook asking for payment then I give the numerous reps I speak to the confirmation number from the website and the phone still rings. Face it Nuvell is not the most reliable company. I know there are customers that pay late all the time and have a bunch of excuses but Nuvell is not clear in their dealings either. They do harrass and report wrong information. For the employees who responded, are you willing to vouch for EVERY employee and tell me that they are doing their jobs correctly and updating every account correctly? I dont think so! You cannot sit there and tell me you hear every phone call and conversation and can vouch that people in your company are practicing fairly. For the car dealer I would be careful about what I shout from my soapbox because car dealers themselves have alot of shady practices!!!!!!!! You talk about people paying what they owe but how about people signing on cars being told one thing then finding out another after the deal is done. JUST ASK BILL HEARD CHEVEROLET in Sanford, FL. OH MY I FORGOT, BILL HEARD WAS SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN BECAUSE OF ALL THE SHADY DEALS THEY DID OVER THE YEARS AND RIPPED SOME MANY PEOPLE OFF. They closed suddenely leaving thousands of dollars unpaid in trade-in deals and left the customers hanging. So dont preach to me about paying bills. Everyone including the lenders needs to take responsibility for their own actions!

I have Nuvell too.

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 27, 2009

We have had our loan since January 2006 and have never been late. Last month we were a little behind on our bills. First time in years. My payment is due on the 25th, and on the 1st, we received about 10 calls between my husband's cell and mine. When my husband answered, he informed Nuvell that we would make the payment the following week, by the 7th, because we were a little behind. The girl on the phone actually started to yell at him that he needs to make the payment now. He reiterated that we would make it by the 7th. She then informed him he must give a bank account for them to debit on the 7th. He refused. She then told him they were going to come and take the car. He told her to go ahead and take the car because he was not going to pre-authorize a bank debit. She then backed off and told him to just pay by the 7th.

I understand we had bad scores when we got the loan and had to use Nuvell. I understand they make loans to bad debtors. However, the way they spoke with my husband was totally uncalled for. They can't even treat their good customers with respect. Did she have to threaten to come take the car? Absolutely not. Both she and we knew they would not come get a car that was only 6 days late after 3+ years of never being late. All that did was piss us off.

Reminds me of previous call to them. About 1 year ago, I knew my husband's commission check would be tight, so I called Nuvell 2 weeks before my payment was due to see about a deferment. The guy told me they do not give deferments and that we just need to pay our bill. He went on to tell me that if we couldn't afford the car, we shouldn't have bought it. He also said we should never call and ask for a deferment again because then they will see we are having trouble paying and they might take the car away. The answer that they don't allow deferments was sufficient enough. He didn't need to beat me up about it. I ended up making the payment ontime that month and my other car finance company, Honda, was very nice about granting me a deferment.

So, if they are talking to me and my husband that way, after years of ontime payments, I can just imagine how they are treating others.

By the way, did I also mention that we pay $40+ more than our payment every month to make it even? The way I see it, we are way ahead. We are technically about 2 months ahead (more than that with amortization).

Employees/Ex-employees have it wrong!

AUTHOR: Lisa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 27, 2009

I have read so many of these replies from employees & ex-employees and they could not be more wrong.
First: In my case the calls have began as early as 2 business days when a payment is 'late'. We are paid by-weekly and set the payment to be sent via our checking account. In many cases Nuvell takes 7-10 days to credit the payment to our account even though it is pulled straight out of checking. This allows Nuvell to charge a late fee. On a 3 pay week month I sent the payment 15 days early & it took them 17 days to post it to my account.

Second: I have documented via caller ID a total of 17 + calls in a day. I have actually talked to employees as many as 4 times in one day providing the same information each time. I have given them the verification number of the payment only to be told I was a liar.

Third: I have requested 4 times in writing that they not contact me by phone. The check sent with this request is always cashed but the do not call information never makes it into the system. Normally I pay on-line, but do pay by check when I need to send a letter so that I can note on the letter that the cashing of check number xxxx is proof of the receipt of this letter. It does not matter.

I have posted a note on my experience with Nuvell as a primary post on this site.

Things to Remember

AUTHOR: Friendlyreminder - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 04, 2007

Your experience with Nuvell is definately not typical and, as a former high-ranking employee, I can assure you that what you described would certainly get a collector fired. Nuvell uses a sophisticated call monitoring system to record and monitor most calls and allow managment to review individual collector performance.

But, all this is moot if the bill is paid on time. It is really not Nuvell's fault that you are behind in payments. If you made an agrement with your relative to take over the payments, you should have the common decency to make good on that promise. In fact, the arrangement you describe is grounds for Nuvell to call the loan due or reposses the vehicle.

Nuvell agreed to finance the vehicle for your relative, not for you. Therefore your relative is responsible no matter what. It is you who have placed your relative in this very difficult situation. Had you made payments as you agreed to with you relative, Nuvell would never have had to begin collection proceedings.

Collectors are not the evil people you make them out to be, it is the consumers who have cavalier attitudes and refuse to pay that cause the conflicts. Most collectors want nothing more than to resolve the situation and assist the consumer through the financial rough spot they are in.

Had you come to Nuvell with your problem, listened with an open mind, tied to work out your problem, and then followed-through with your obligation you would never be in the situation you are in.

2 call minimum

AUTHOR: Nicole - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 30, 2005

I am a receptionist at a large corporation. I have recieved many call from Nuvell, bordering on harrassment.

In a specific incident, I got 2-3 calls a day from one of Nuvell's reps. Some of these calls would result in my taking a message, and that would be it. Other calls included demanding to speak with security, yelling (done by the Nuvell employee), threats, and other disturbing behaviors.

Now, I understand that the Nuvell reps have a job to do, and I also understand that sometimes, scare tactics can help them collect their money. However, I would hope that they would have the good sense to reserve these behaviors for the people that owe them their money. Yelling at whoever happens to be on the phone is not going to help them at all.

Nuvell DOES harass its customers

AUTHOR: Kimberly - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 05, 2005

People state that they work for the company or even get on this guy for being late. Things happen, people fall behind sometimes- Nuvell makes its money off people that pay late! They finance bad credit people, so they know what they are getting into. Not to mention, they are VERY harassing. Just because someone is late does not give this company the right to call 12 times per day back to back sometimes. That is defined as harassement! Ringing the telephone with the intent to harass or annoy is prohibited by the Fair Credit Practices Act. Calling the same number 4 times in 3 minutes isnt to try to get a person on the phone- it is an annoy tactic. I have VoIP phones and have proof of this behavior. Their agents ARE rude, and they DO lie. They claim "we haven't been able to reach you" when you just had a conversation with someone a week ago. Just ebcause they are owed money does NOT give them the right to lie and get around the laws our country has set in place to avoid such behavior. I own a business and if we pulled these tactics when we had an invoice owed- we'd be out of business. Being owed money doesnt give someone the right to act like scumbags.

I have been with this company over a year.

AUTHOR: Nicole - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 07, 2005

I have an auto loan with Nuvell they are very willing to work with you. I was in a car accident and called them and asked for a deferment of a payment because of the costs of the deduct and a car rental. They had no problem with this the rep even told me to ask for 2 months- they approved this request and we never had any problems. Do not be late with your payments not even 1 day. When you show you are doing your part they will in turn do what they can for you. Do not let yourself get behind- call them before the payment is due- this really works.

#5 UPDATE Employee

Not true you look to screw the company that isn't backing down.

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 25, 2005

I work for Nuvell. The things you are saying are complete and utter lies. No one at Nuvell uses "alias names". They are real people with a job to do. Owned by GMAC, Nuvell handles thousands of incoming and outgoing calls a day. The fact that they do this would pretty much rule out making as many phone calls to you daily as you say. There simply wouldn't be enough time.

Next, you signed a contract with a payment date and amount. With thousands of customers with bad credit, these collectors have heard everything you could possibly say. From a business point of view, should Nuvell say "No problem you cant make your payment. Keep the car, too. It's on us." Of course not.

Third, collection calls only start after the account is over 10 days past due.

In conclusion, I find that your statements are just ridiculous. There is no way that a company as profitable and widely known asn Nuvell and GMAC could operate under the conditions you say supposedly happened to you. To be honest, I think most of things you have said lead me to believe that your payments haven't been on time and now you look to screw the company that isn't backing down.

I hear where you are coming from but in my situation we were told by the dealership we wouldnt have a pmnt for 45 days.

Nuvell then called us w/in a few days and told us we would have our first pmnt w/in like two weeks. We did our best to come up w/ the full amount of the payment.

when we noticed it was going to be short I called and told them and they sd ok fine. Only to have the collection company calling us day and night and answering their calls and being harrassed by them.

they suggested to change our due date but we couldnt do that until it was current, the following week I did a western union paid them the amount short and also faxed them a due date change.

The person never turned it in and again we were being harrassed. when we told them that we faxed a due date change the collector called my husband a liar and began to demand the payment and my husband hung up on him. not two munites passed and another lady calls demanding the payment also. we told her the same thing.

she looked into the notes and found that i did fax it and it was in fact recieved but that person neglected to turn it in. we have never been more that 10 days late on this car payment.

They have reported on our credit that we have been 1 month behind when I have proof that we have not been. So I understand the banks loan the money and if no one was to pay them back they would be out of a job. but their are FDCPA rules that they need to follow and when they call using alias names and call backto back like even when we respond. Well that uncalled for.

like I said they are a bunch of thugs their and people like us good people hard working trying to put our lives back together from lay offs etc.... should not be treated any different.

How to not have this happen

AUTHOR: Richard - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 26, 2004

Every bank is EXACTLY the same. Doesn't matter if it is A Number One Gold Credit Bank, or Guido's Break Your Leg bank.

If your payment is on time and in full, you will never hear from them.

I urge everyone to use this approach.

If you are going to be late or short in your payment, call the bank in advance!

Tell them what is going on. 99.9% of all banks will work with you on this. What gets them going is if you are late, and they haven't heard from you.

Once again, every time I read a report about a bad bank, the same issue is involved.

"I was behind in my payments"

Don't get behind and you will never hear from your lender.

banks, just like people, have different personalities.

Banks that deal with "less than perfect" credit customers are a lot more aggressive in their collection approaches.

They have to be.

They have repo rates in the 20-30% rate. Good credit customers repo in the 1-2% rate.

Keep this in mind when you get phone calls from your bank.

Nuvell

POSTED: Monday, October 25, 2004

I am a new Nuvell customer. I have been put through the ringer even when the payment is 5 days late. They don't ask they bully. they have called at work when requested not to call at work. They have called over 10 times in 1 day and they have called my home at 5:45 am and when I said to them do you know what time it is? they yelled at me. This company should get sued for their tactics in collection.

It's one thing to owe money get behind and stuff and it's another when you do all you can do and they only harass you even more.

Bottom line we are their customers and they should treat us with respect. They will not though because you know what guys they own the loan and it's first party.

They can do whatever they want to us and think about it how mant consumers have the money to get an attorney? most atorneys will just say pay your bills and they will leave you alone.

It sucks and I will never do a business with a company again with out checking into them. If anyone had delt with Long Beach Acceptance copr will be happy to hear that they are with a better company than Nuvell. Nuvell is a bunch of thugs.

How to not have this happen to you

AUTHOR: Richard - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 13, 2004

I am a car dealer. i deal with people with "bad" credit daily. In reading this, and numerous other complaints about atou financing, the same thing keeps popping up.

"I was behind in my payments"

Why is the company you are financing your car through a bad company because you are behind in your payments?

Put yourself in their shoes for a second.

You loaned the money, you expect to be paid back like it states in the contract.

Period.

If you are a landlord, would you be expected to let someone live in your house for free becuase they lost their job?

I don't understand someone being mad because they didn't keep up thier part of a deal.
And by the wway, a collection agencies job is to collect.
