Occidental Vacation Club COMPLETE SCAM COZUMEL MEXICO

This company is an absolute nightmare to deal with and I have never been so disgusted with a business in my entire life.  My sister and I traveled to Cozumel for her birthday in May.  I paid over $1400 for flight and hotel to stay at the Sunscape Sabor. When we arrived at the airport, we were offered all sorts of gifts and a complimentary jeep rental through salesmen at the airport. We just had to visit the OCCIDENTAL and hear their sales pitch.  Well we decided to purchase a timeshare and paid $1714 as a down payment. They offered to move us to their hotel, so we did.  While there, we were unhappy with the Occidental resort (cleanliness, facilities, food and beverage) and wished we hadn’t moved over.  When we arrived back home, we sent in the cancellation paperwork to Mexico via registered mail.  Occidental never signed for the cancellation paperwork.  I put in a claim with the USPS to investigate the whereabouts of the package. When I emailed the resort, they said that they are only refunding my credit card $24 of the $1714, (keeping $1400 for switching over to their hotel (4 nights in their crappy room @ $385/night, charging us the $200 they gave us in a “gift voucher” to their gift shop, and $40 for taxi vouchers that they gave to us so one of their associates could meet us for dinner and we could get back to the hotel).  I had a terrible experience in Mexico and on top of paying the initial $1478.52 that I paid originally so that my sister and I could stay at the Sunscape, Occidental is now refusing to refund my $1714 deposit (minus the $24 they are crediting me), for a total of $3168.52 that I lost on a few days in Mexico, in an attempt to show my big sister a good time for her birthday.  Worst descision of my life.   I am filing a report with consumer protection and will be writing on every forum and online travel site detailing my experience.
