My friends and I have had continuing problems with Fry's Electronics rebates. I just bought a product with a rebate from Fry's.

There is no telephone number to contact them on the rebate form if there is a question. This rebate is for "purchases made ONLY through Fry's Electronics / Outpost.com", making me think this is a Fry's related promotion.

I quote: "By my signature above on the rebate form and in exchange for the right to claim the rebate as offered, I hereby assign to OnRebate.com any rebate I may be entitled to receive if I have not cashed the rebate check or deposited it for collection by 90 days after date of the mailing of the rebate check to me at the address I have provided on this rebate form at which time the rebate check I had received will be null and void."

This encourages them to toss my rebate form and claim that it was lost in the mail. Then they would be richer by the amount of the rebate. I can now see why so many of my Fry's rebates were "lost". To be fair, I think my manufacturer's rebates have been honored.

I considered not signing this assignment to OnRebate. However, requirement 2 states that a "completed and signed coupon or a copy of this coupon" must be enclosed. Thus, I was required to assign my rebate rights to OnRebate. I consider this unreasonable.

Check Voids after 90 days from date it gets mailed

AUTHOR: Nadina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 18, 2006

Dear Customer,

Please note that the check void after 90 days of it being issued to you and not since the day that you mail in the documents.

This how the process goes:

1) You mail in the rebat documentation.
2) The rebate gets approved.
3) After being approved it could take up to 10 weeks for the check to be mailed.
4) Once we mail you the check then we allow 3 months for the customer to cash it before it voids (which is more than enough time to cash a check)
